The food was Verrry disappointing. The place is beautiful and the staff is excellent and super friendly. We started with the guacamole: it had an original presentation but it was slightly bland. The grilled Caesar made with grilled cabbage was soggy and seemed boiled then possibly grilled afterwards, not sure and not good. Charcoal restaurant does an amazing grilled cabbage and yours did not come close. Hamachi presentation was strange because they looked like uneven cuts of Hamachi... not equal size cuts. I found them bland but my husband felt they were ok. We ordered the Garlic Shrimp and we were told "oh if you like Garlic these are really Garlicky" Bland... although the quality of the shrimps were superb. We then had the queso fundido and it arrived cool ... Well, if you are not familiar with this dish, it's supposed to arrive very hot and you dip your chips or tortillas in it... We sent it back and they brought it out correctly, I ordered the Perron Taco, grilled steak not sure if strip or ribeye. That was the most shocking of all. The taco had all sorts of things on top, Guac, beans and I don't recall what else. It looked like a mess and here's the best part...the steak was crumbled along the edge or the tortilla on the plate... not inside on on top... crumbled meaning crispy peanut-size pellets of beef. Possibly a tablespoon of crumbed beef bits. The ice cream was delicious. The food is seriously tasteless and they need to do a serious rewind in the kitchen. They seem to be busy for Happy Hour when we drive by. However, they need to do better for diners that come in later. We won't go back. Diners, you've been warned. Many other great places to dine in the area. Good Luck MXO. You...
Read moreLiving in Los Angeles, we have our pick of my many fantastic Mexican restaurants, so this has to stand out to become a mainstay in such a rich culinary scene. And it does! Came here on a Friday night for the first time and will definitely be coming back. We ordered a few things: Pepo Duo mocktail : this was so good! I think the Almave NA spirit really brings a sharpness to the drink that many non-alcoholic cocktails lack.
The yellowtail aguachiles : This was a surprise to me because it was a lot milder (and sweeter) than I expected. Not the kind of heat you brace for in a typical aguachile dish. While the unconventional nature of it threw off for a bit, I ended up enjoying it a lot!
Grilled prawns : very good!
The cowboy woodfire grill steak : This was by far the best part of the meal. The steak was a perfect medium rare and incredibly tender. Bravo!
Dessert : Chocolate cake/flan combination thingie. Not gonna lie, this wasn't my favorite. The flan's texture gets compromised to accommodate the cake vice versa. But I did really enjoy the ice cream that came when it. I'll probably just get a few scoops of that next time.
I had a bit of confusion w/ my order but the staff was courteous and we sorted it out.
If you are Muslim and comfortable eating Creekstone Beef , ask your server which steaks on the menu are halal.
Full disclosure, this is not an inexpensive meal. It is pricey but I think the combination of food and ambiance can make it worth it for a nice celebration dinner or something if you can't drop $$$$ on a...
Read moreThe entrance alone is gorgeous. Great staff. The food was delicious. Although, idk what is going on with these Mexican restaurants not serving at least 1 regular salsa with all these weirdo salsa concepts. This is California- home of Mexican cuisine. Please stop with the oil salsa combo. MXO, too part takes in this fad. However, the rest of the menu is definitely delicious 😋. Steak was cooked to perfection, enchiladas were rich and perfectly seasoned, the broccollini, was flavorful but NOT SALTY. I'm telling you the chef did his thing on everything except that salsa. The drinks were AMAZING and not watered down. Although the seating is close its not cramped. The restroom is fabulous... strong, bold, modern design features. Private doors, fully stocked. It is VALET ONLY PARKING, $20. But it is situated on the cusp of Beverly Hills and West Hollywood so to be expected. This is a very nice place. Not too overly presumptuous. We spent almost $400 on the evening. A bit over priced but with their current momentum and the cost of doing business these days I'll give them some leeway. We've had a similar meal at Flemings for half the price and just as delicious. Still it was a special occasion and I wanted to try this place out. So it was an early Christmas gift. It's hard to find AMBIENCE/LOCATION/SERVICE/GOOD FOOD under the same roof in LA. But take a bow MXO, you...
