Qin West Noodle is a small restaurant that's located in the same plaza as Howlin' Rays, Chego and and Lao Tao. At first glance, you'd think it's a spot not worthy visiting because it's empty but you'd be surprised by the dishes they serve.
Food:
I ordered the Liang Pi noodle and by the looks of the picture on the menu, I could tell they're hand made knife-cut noodles. It's a cold, meatless noodle dish that's limited in quantity each day. Even though I was craving some meat in my noodles, it was a glorious dish to try. I ordered it medium spicy just in case and it was actually not that spicy. I can typically eat spicy dishes but since it was my first time, I wasn't sure how spicy they described it to be. At first bite, it's actually a very refreshing noodle dish to have so I'd give it a try if you're looking to try their limited quantity dish.
My friend and I also ordered the pork chops with salt dish to share. I initially assumed it was the big slices of pork chop you'd typically get at like Phoenix or any Cantonese restaurant but they're actually small pork chop bites. They tasted like any other pork chop dish with salt and peppet. They fried it well and the oil wasn't overpowering the flavor, which is important for a dish like this
If you're ever visiting this plaza or waiting in line for Howlin' Rays, I recommend you try this place as an appetizer before the main course. Plus, they validate...
Read moreOrdered the dry mix noodle which was spiced very well and tasty. Overall, slightly greasy for my taste the closer to the bottom of the noodles I got, but nevertheless, the toppings and chili oil combination was absolutely delicious. I came here with some Asian friends and they also agreed that these noodles taste pretty authentic. The noodle portions are huge too - had to pack my meal to-go!
Could use a bit more beef slices, but again, there is no shortage of delicious toppings and addictive noodles. For the price, these noodles are an absolute go. $13.95 in LA for this quantity and quality is excellent especially if you have a smaller stomach and can split this into 2 meals. I would come back here if I came back to LA!
The guy working here is also really kind and speaks Chinese as well. I don't think he accepts tips by default, but if he served your table well, I'd still consider handing...
Read moreA small, no-nonsense kind of place. You order, eat, and go. No need for extra friendly service. They don't accept tips either, which would make sense why they don't need to go above and beyond for a customer, which is fine with me. The food is what matters the most: The noodles are flavorful and comes in a pretty big size. I thought I was hungry before I came in and almost couldn't finish my noodles. The only unfortunate thing is that it was pretty hot that day and there was no A.C. or fan on, so only the occasional wind through the plaza brought in some air. Other than that, it is pretty hot inside. Definitely recommend this place if you want to try something different from your typical ramen or pho. My partner and I got the Gulin soup and the Liuzhou soup (which was pretty sour toward the end because of the cut up sour shoots; def recommend for only those who enjoy sour and...
