Overall: 4.7/5 (dine in)
This place is located right next to a smoke shop. It's a pretty small restaurant with a minimalist design. The food here is all vegan so it blows my mind how tasty everything was. We asked them to do the smoke down for ramen which was pretty cool to experience because you get to take off the top.
Their soup ramen comes with soboro (soy meat & tofu), crispy onion, corn, arugula, and alfalfa. I can't believe how amazing this combination work. The only thing that could use some work is the soboro texture. It doesn't resemble ground meat as much as the broth is akin tonkatsu broth.
No. 8 Red Hot Miso ($16.95): Delicious and spicy! The broth is full of umami and had so much depth. To think that this could be achieved with vegetables. I talked to the chef who said he believes there needs to be layers to the vegan broth in order to achieve umami. I 100% agree. I ate slowly and literally savored each bite. The noodles were one of the best I had. Perfect texture, bounciness, and taste. I finished the whole bowl but didn't feel heavy or get any uncomfortable bloating. I was so satisfied that I didn't crave anything for days.
No. 5 Yuzu Sesame (16.95): How is this flavor even possible??!! Subtle Yuzu flavor but the broth was flavorful enough. Perfectly balanced bowl of heaven.
Roasted Miso Avocado ($5.80): This was pretty good but not as amazing as everyone made it out to be.
Mac & Beets ($8.80): They give a generous amount of crispy fried onions which is really what gives it flavor. The beet flavor is very subtle. It has the same texture and similar cheese taste as the Kraft boxed Mac & cheese.
For the two appetizers, I feel like they're good to try once but for the ramen, they got me hook-line-and sinker. You have to try this place...
Read moreI ordered online about 1:30am after an event. The place was near where I was staying and one of the few non fast food spots still open. I didn't really pay attention to the fact it was all vegetarian ramen, and I was not disappointed. The ordering system and customization was great too, and the order was totally accurate. I love a tonkatsu with pork slices as much as the next person but my #9 truffle salt ramen was delicious (I did add cheese). The noodles where slightly thicker and chewier than I am accustomed to, which was a plus. The broth was salty and savory with mushroom umami flavors. It also had a pleasant texture which may have been boosted by the cheese. I did not miss the meat at all, but it's pricing is directly in line with premium meat filled ramen, so I would have liked to see add ons like cheese and extra noodles be a little lower cost.
Once I arrived I realized their dining room was still open so I asked to have my order in house which was fine (still served in delivery fashion, I may have been too late to have it in their bowls etc.). The dining room was dark and cozy with about a dozen tables for parties of 2 or 4. Their delivery bowls keep the noodles seperate from the broth which was dope. They do have free cold water in the dining room, but I got a bottled tea for $6.25.
Overall as a late night option it can't be beat (open til 3:00am), but it's high cost and vegetarian focus would turn me to other options during regular hours. If you are vegetarian or vegan I could see RedWhite a regular option for a rich, savory, satisfying...
Read moreGREAT VEGAN RAMEN PLACE!!! A typical phrase to say when you go to a vegan place that's good "I didn't know it's vegan". For sure, they did it here! I could tell that tofu was tofu but the soup didn't lack any flavor that non-vegan ramen had.
We went on the first day they opened and the owner was their. They came from Boston to LA. It's actually the best vegan ramen I've had in LA so I was glad they came.
For first timer, I was suggested 2 steps: choose ramen then choose soup. Ramen has: (1) Ramen (2) Combo (3) Mix Soup has: No 3,5,7,8,9 I actually wanted to try yuzu which they say was very famous but accidentally swapped the bowl with my friends because we didn't know how they're supposed to look like. So I ate the curry instead. It was good tho. I couldn't tell the curry itself was vegan.
The smoking bowl is very instagrammable. I totally recommend getting some shots or videos of your bowl. It's very pretty!
I and my friends just thought that our bowls were a bit salty. I wanted to finish the soup but it's too flavorful to do so. Otherwise their ramen is PERFECT!!
Free parking lot in the plaza area. They have short-time parking for pick-up in front of the restaurant too. Just a little drive from Ventura freeway, very convenience!! I...
