They take reservations but the restaurant is always two-thirds empty and it’s a self-served restaurant. That said, the manager/door guy blocks the door and keeps everyone waiting, seating people one by one even though there are no waiters and the place is mostly empty. He also skips you in line if you've been waiting but did not have a prior reservation. This process keeps you waiting in line for an extended period of time. This should be a first come first served seating restaurant with no-one blocking the door.
I also came in with my wife and infant child. After asking the manager/door guy numerous times for a high-chair without success I had to find one myself. When I told him he wasn’t performing well he very rudely asked my family and I to leave. He escalated it quickly and was very rude.
I eat out often and had been to this establishment prior. I have to say this is one of the worst service experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. The management/door guy at this restaurant is rude and their processes are bizarre for a self-service restaurant which is basically like a fast food joint. I think they have a real identity issue and the food is so-so. Really wanted to like this place but I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. ——————————————-
I’m adding to my review because I received a very rude and very wrong reply from this restaurant. See restaurant reply below in my photo. They claim I was the aggressor because I didn’t have a reservation. I did in fact have a reservation and the manager/door guy actually skipped someone to seat me and my family. See second picture for reservation. In fact I made a reservation the previous time I was there because the manager/door guy was so rude. No other person be it another employee or the owner interacted with us, just the manager/door guy so I assume he wrote this reply to cover himself. I dont typically post reviews but I must in this case because of how rude and aggressive this manager/door guy was to me and my infant daughter. Really unexpected and really just not good business to blame the customer when their employee was in the wrong. Again I highly recommend you...
Read moreWe just moved to the neighborhood, we had our friends and family visiting from Texas during the weekend and we decided to try this place out. we were all very amazed by the pretty decorations and all the hanging lights. I give the decorations a 5 stars. The hostess was very friendly and sat us right away, There were no servers which were fine with us, We ordered drinks from the bar and also a variety of tacos, nachos, quesadilas etc etc. Our bill was very high (we also tip well even though we didn't know how all this was going to turn out) but we figured the price is high because we're in Hollywood. The cashier was polite and helped us with all our inquiries. I ordered a Drink called Jaritos btw it is delicious and, some of us had drinks from the bar, they were pricy but not bad. 5 minutes after we order our food, we got a text message letting us know our food was ready to be picked up at the bar yay!! That was very fast but, Here is where everything went Down DOWN DOWNHILL!!!! The food is a disgrace for Hispanic culture. It's embarrassing the flavorless cold meat, the chewy tortillas, the burn chips, chicken tacos were cold (health department should inspect this place) and I can keep going. I could tell that everyone on the table had something negative to say about the food. Do your wallet and mouth a favor and go to Del taco, Taco Bell or even a Food Truck will give you what you pay for. I'm constantly traveling for work and let me tell you I have never been so...
Read moreBeen meaning to visit Roadside Tacos as we often drive by and its unique and playful paint scheme and retro-inspired logo kept catching our eye. It was Tuesday so its name alone evokes thoughts of its partner, Taco. Thankfully Roadside Taco has a simple rotating Taco Tuesday special though today’s wasn’t the most inspiring. Chicken taco and a quesadilla taco. But hey, everything here is very reasonably priced so we tried a bunch of other items. The chicken birria with consommé was juicy snd flavorful with a nice crunch and chew. The carne asada taco was juicier (almost like it was in a stew) than I’m familiar with but it didn’t at all detract from it’s deliciousness. On the contrary, it was a welcome change from the drier carne asada tacos I’ve had. At $10, the Margaritas are on the small side so I’m not sure I would recommend it though tasty. And the $4 Taco Tuesday Tecates were fine. It’s the food, atmosphere and service that impressed us this evening. And the space which is majority outdoors is gonna be perfect for summer evenings when there’s no stupid Covid variant keeping us all jailed up. There are some Instagram worthy murals for you social media obsessed taco fans like one of Tupac and another of the DTLA skyline. We’ll definitely be back as it’s good-old-neighborhood-standby vibe is strong. Go visit. I want them to succeed on this side of Studio City that can benefit from its stylish and unique presentation and...
