Walked in, hostess was nice, and sat me down at the bar. Whiskey Wednesday and got chicken fried steak that came with creamed corn, garlic bread, and mashers with(soup or salad)clam chowder soup and a california slamer for a drink. California slammer was nice and complimented the food, not too sweet and just enough alcohol. Clam chowder soup was delicious and creamy, full of flavor. Usually, I'm not a fan of creamed corn, but I tried it just because it was actually pretty good. I'm not sure I'd purposefully order it again, but if you like creamed corn, definitely good. Garlic bread and mashers were both sooo good. Both garlicy and buttery delicious, would 1000% recommend try l. Last but not least, the chicken fried steak and gravy... Omg it was so good. Perfectly seasoned, full of flavor and just... so delicious. I'm not even sure how to describe how good it was.
They had music playing and sports games on their multiple tvs at the bar and really was a cool atmosphere. Music wasn't too loud but loud enough to enjoy. The people sitting near me were super nice, staff was friendly and accommodating, and always made sure I was fine even though im not a very social or talkative person.
I'm only here for a few days for work and will definitely try to go back and try other things if possible. 100% recommend. I'm not sure about parking as my hotel was just right down the block or anything like that.
I want to try the bread pudding but forgot sadly... I'm not sure I'd be able to eat it though, was pretty stuffed.
2 pretty good/strong drinks and chicken fried steak, came out to be about $37. Really not that bad for how good...
Read moreI was looking forward to a birthday dinner with my kids on Sunday, and unfortunately it was a very bad experience. When we left the restaurant the boys asked me what that was all about, and I couldn't explain it. We have been going to SPBC for more than 20 years, my ex's family has lived in San Pedro for more than 50 years, and my kids have all graduated from SP High School or POLA. We waited about 20 minutes for someone to take our drink orders, and then probably another 20 minutes for someone to take our food orders. The waitress seemed disinterested for some reason, and only came by once to let us know that our orders were coming. She forgot my salad, and we didn't stay for dessert. This was supposed to be my birthday dinner that I had been looking forward to all week. The whole vibe was very strange, and I couldn't help but wonder what was going on. Did we look strange or was one of us smelling offensive? I was very reluctant to write this, and asked my 400k followers on social media if I should, but here it is. For the record we have never had any issues with anything before there, and have always had a great experience for more than 20 years of visiting SPBC. I'm probably not going to be returning, and it's a sad thing to have to write that. I wish them all the best, and I'm sorry for whatever happened yesterday to make this a very negative experience. Honestly what bothered me the most is that this was my birthday dinner, and now the memory of that is what I will remember from...
Read moreCame here with my family while on vacation. 330 on a Friday, still on our local time, so an early dinner. We were sat immediately but our waitress offered to move us to a cooler spot in the dining room when she came to take our drink order. It was unseasonably warm and our first seat was near the patio door, so we appreciated then cooler option and took her up on it.
The restaurant has an old pub feel, with a prominent bar and brewing equipment visible in the back. Definitely a nice vibe. Our waitress was really nice. I actually got the wrong beer at first and didn't notice till I ordered another ... The waitress realized she'd gotten me the wrong one and comped it, which was really nice since I actually enjoyed it and finished it.
We ordered some loaded fries for the table and they were great. Cheese, bacon, green onions ... Pretty standard but well executed. we finished the whole thing.
I got the Cajun meatloaf and it was a massive plate. 3 big slabs, I couldn't come closer to finishing it. The table also had the tuna melt, BBQ burger, and rib tip salad. Everyone seemed to enjoy their food. The meatloaf had an interesting flavor, mostly standard but with a cumin-y kick. The gravy came separate in a little bowl and I should have asked for more because it was a tad dry. But definitely tasty. The veggies were solid too.
I had the hefeweizen and blood orange beers, and enjoyed both. Overall it was a nice experience, I'd definitely...
