The half-and-half beer at the Whale and Ale Irish Pub is a must-try for any beer lover. The unique blend of a creamy stout and a crisp lager creates a perfectly balanced and smooth taste. The flavors complement each other perfectly, with the rich chocolate and coffee notes of the stout blending seamlessly with the crisp and refreshing taste of the lager. The beer is served at the perfect temperature, making it easy to enjoy every sip. It's a unique and delicious beer that you won't find anywhere else. I highly recommend giving the half-and-half a try, whether you're a beer connoisseur or just looking for something new and...

The Whale and Ale is on 7th Street in Old Town San Pedro. It is a hidden gem and you must try it when you are in town.

They have the best pub food in the City. It is just a perfect place.

Parking is on the street or behind the store front. We easily found metered parking right in front.

We were there for lunch and it was not too crowded. We decided to eat outside and we loved it. It was a wonderful day and the umbrella kept out any sun in our faces.

The entire staff is ever so kind. We were greeted right away and seated. A server was soon with us for a drink order.

The menu is great. It goes beyond just pub food, it is fine dinning food in a pub. It is that great.

We ordered calamari, mac and cheese and fish and chips. My grandson ordered and the server was so sweet to him. We decided to share it all. And there was so much fish and chips we had some to take home. The calamari was lightly breaded and just wonderful. I was able to get one before my "sharing" grandson ate the rest. The mac and cheese was out of this world. It was so full of cheese and had a great cheese grated top. We have ordered mac and cheese at some very expensive places and this one tops them all. Just amazing. The fish and chips were battered perfectly and so good and we got 2 huge pieces and could not finish it. Not one item was any less than what you might find at a 5 star fine dinning place. The prices are reasonable.

We went inside and found spotless bathrooms and the cutest bar and sitting area. They even have a fire place. All the staff said hello as we walked by. We felt so welcome and we don't drink. Oh, and they have live music at night.

Go there. You will just love this place....

A Tad short of Perfection. My wife n I had 50 minutes to make it there from mid city LA, we made with a about 30 minutes to spare. The reason why I mentioned this is because we did not have to make a reservation amidst this Covid situation. So this was Great!!! Staff was limited, again they were closing in 1/2 an hour, but we were taking WELL CARE OF. They were VERY ATTENTIVE. Full bar, I had a Moscow mule . Served in the traditional cup, made just right👍. Wife had a coldie, served in a cold mug, perfect. We had our 6 year old nephew with us, his paper menu was a coloring whale pattern, so that kept him entertained. Wife had the Salmon, came with fresh cut squash and mashed potatoes that looked like they were "piped" onto the plate( impressive). I had the fish and chips. Lil man had the grilled cheese. Wife absolutely LOVED HERS!!! Prepared PERFECTLY!!! My fish n chips, well not so PERFECT. I attribute this to being the Last meal of the evening, and the oil showing as such. Not so golden, and the chips were not very Firm with that "SNAP " feel to them. Once again, being the last table of the night, sometimes you do not get the Best. We've been there before, reason why we returned, and the First time my fish and chips were HEAVENLY!! We'll go back again, for sure, just earlier in the day. They have the general British Pub grub, Bangers and Mash, etc. Definitely, Definitely a WORTHY...

Moved to San Pedro a year ago, only to discover this place was closed. Imagine my delight when I found out it had reopened! I decided to check it out for the first time and was not disappointed. I started with a glass of French wine that was absolutely perfect—served in a glass with a decent rim, unlike the thick, cheap ones you often see at most pubs. For my meal, I ordered a burger that was succulent and topped with high-quality cheese, all on a brioche bun. And the pickles? Definitely not from a grocery store. The burger was so juicy that the juice dripped onto my fries, making them taste even better. For dessert, I treated myself to an espresso martini, and I’m very picky about those. This one was simply divine. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned, which was far from average and it was phenomenal. What a fantastic experience all around! Can't wait to come back.

This is an Irish pub in San Pedro, so it's not necessarily where you think to look for Irish fare. Our server was great....very friendly and very attentive, and all the staff seemed pretty welcoming. The atmosphere is a bit more dive bar than Irish pub and could use a little updating. The food was a little hit and miss. The chowder was a little fishy, and the ice cream with the bread pudding was freezer burned. But the French Dip was really good (and those fries/chips are probably worth the visit all by themselves)! The Scotch egg was different than any other we've tried, but in a good way. We went on a Saturday afternoon, and it wasn't super busy, but was starting to pick up as we left. So probably a good sign that the locals were starting to flow in. Not a "must stop", but worth a try.
