First time coming here after being so excited to try this fairly new place here in Silverlake but after my experience here, Iām never coming back. So here is why:
Walked up to the hostess and asked if there was space for 2 and straight off the bat, I get told thereās no available seating. Even though I saw tons of chairs and a small table outside with no āreservationā sign on it. She noticed I noticed, so with hesitation, she gave us the table. We were given a menu so we assumed we would get our order taken for our drinks. Waited nearly 15 minutes and nothing. The same hostess noticed the couple sitting beside us was also waiting to get their order taken and looking confused, when I overheard her tell them they can get up and order at the bar. Didnāt have the decency to let us know as well. If I wouldnāt have overheard this, we would still be waiting. My friend got up to order our drinks and said the bartender made eye contact with her and immediately pretended to do busy work to not take her order. He walked away until someone else had to take over and finally serve us our glasses of wine. The wine glasses were covered in pieces of crusted up old food, clearly not washed correctly. Literally the cherry on top.
Looked around and everyone was getting attentive good service from the hostess and the waitress working that night and arriving customers were getting immediately seated. Also, not a POC in sight, except for us. This place was seriously so unwelcoming. If youāre a person of color, Iād advise you to not spend your money here. Clearly racism was the issue. Leave Seco for the white...

Our waitress took our order for drinks and tostadas, then circled back a while later to ask if we wanted any food. We gently reminded her we already had. Twenty minutes after that, she reappeared with a man holding our tostadas and, while looking directly at us, told him she didnāt know what table they belonged to. I had to wave and say, āPretty sure those are ours.ā The tostadas themselves? Tasty, yes, but so leaky the pork one baptized my white shirt in neon-red juice. A passing waiter clocked the mess and said, āOh bummer, those are very messyā and kept walking. No napkin, no soda water, nothing. Speaking of napkins, none were provided with the food. Neither were utensils. We had to ask. And just when I thought the chaos had peaked, a different server came up mid-bite and asked if he could swap out our chairs. Not clear why, apparently they switch chairs at 4pm? We asked if it could wait. He reluctantly agreed. In my three decades of dining out, I have never been asked to stand up mid-meal so someone could redecorate around me. The servers are objectively hot, which must be the hiring criteria, because common sense was nowhere on the menu. Between the lost food, the shirt-ruining tostadas, the absence of basic table settings, and the mid-bite eviction notice, this was hands down one of the most baffling dining experiences Iāve ever had. One star, because the pork tostada was good (but insanely overpriced). Iād recommend your local taco truck over...
