This is a Thai food place in Grand Central Market in LA. They have a variety of food options that you can pick from. Things do sell out, so get what you want when you order. I waited until after my lunch to order mango sticky rice, and they sold out while I was eating. Overall, a solid place for Thai food.
Gai Yang (Thai BBQ Chicken w/ Papaya Salad & Sticky Rice) 4/5 - Decent bbq chicken with a hint of a lemongrass flavor.
Pad Kee Mao (Spicy Drunken Noodles) 4/5 - These were savory flat rice noodles with a spicy kick to them. You can add a protein to it (I chose beef and it was good). The dish also came with baby corns, mushrooms, beansprout, bell peppers, chinese broccoli, etc.
Beef Panang (Braised Beef Curry) 4.5/5 - I was surprised seeing the container because it was 1/3 the size of the Yellow Chicken Curry. Maybe because beef is more expensive than chicken? But yeah, similar pricing for both, and the chicken curry was good, so I'd pick that over this if I knew. Other than that, the beef was very tender and the curry sauce was good. There was an interesting sweetness to it.
Kaeng Karee (Yellow Chicken Curry) 4.5/5 - The chicken was very tender and the curry was good and flavorful. Bonus that it is triple the size of the beef curry for the same price.
Vegetable Egg Rolls 5/5 - The egg rolls were crispy and tasty. I'm not a vegetable person, but I enjoyed them.
Pad Krapow Gai 3.5/5 - This came with rice and ground chicken. It was decent, but there are better options on the menu.
Crab Fried Rice 4/5 - Good fried rice with a lot...
Read moreI came here on a Sunday afternoon and was debating between the different food stands at Grand Central Markrt but ultimately chose Sticky Rice as my lunch meal. The line was short and want as packed as Eggslut which made me skeptical but as I checked their Yelp reviews, it was popular amongst their customers. When you first find Sticky Rice, you might get confused because there was two different address to order food.
My friend and I both tried the Thai bbq chicken and let me just say, it was freaking amazing. The chicken was decadent in flavor and spice. It did come with two sides of sauces but I didn't bother with them and stuck with chili sauce, which gave me an extra kick in spiciness. The sticky rice on the side was a bit hard for my taste but it went well with the Thai bbq chicken. We also ordered a Thai iced tea and that too was rich in flavorful whereas compared to other places, they may be lacking authentic flavor by diluting their drinks. The taste was just perfect and the sweetness did not overcome the overall drink.
I'd highly recommend anyone looking for a new place to try at Grand Central Market to try out Sticky Rice and the Thai bbq chicken plate. For $10, is say is worth every dollar spent. Until next time where I will try out the rest of their menu.
P.S. Don't forget to order their Thai Iced Tea. You won't regret it unless you think $3 is a waste...
Read moreI had an unfortunate experience today with the cashier at your location. I want to begin by saying that the food is excellent and the kitchen staff are always kind and helpful, but unfortunately the attitude of the two Thai cashiers left much to be desired.
When ordering, I asked for a dish and the cashier inquired about the protein. I asked for her recommendation, and she suggested chicken. I responded “I’d rather beef,” but it seems she understood “no beef.” When I received my order, it was vegetarian. I politely asked if it could be adjusted to include beef, but instead of helping, she responded in a rude and upset manner, insisting that I had not specified correctly.
I then asked the kitchen staff (who were very understanding) to help clarify, but this seemed to upset her even more. She told me, in a very unpleasant tone, that she could add it but would have to charge me more. Without my authorization, she turned around, processed the charge, and pressured me to pay. At that point I decided to leave the ticket, not pay, and walk away disappointed.
It’s a real shame because the quality of your food is outstanding, and the kitchen staff are wonderful. I sincerely hope the front service staff can reflect the same professionalism and kindness as the rest...
