What can I say other than, THIS IS OUR FAVORITE SUSHI SPOT!!!! We live over an hour away, but we don't hesitate to make the drive to get our fix! Especially if we're already on our way to catch a show, you better believe we're stopping by to eat or pick something up to munch on while we wait in line/tailgate.
Most "sushi" places are overrated, charge for the atmosphere, and let you down on their quality. Sushi Ike is a small private owned business by a lovely husband and wife, where the owner/chef goes to the fish market himself to make the best picks!
Sushi Ike has never failed us, and always has the freshest ingredients! We've always gone for Omakase and leave it to Chef Rick's choice, which has always been incredible! We look forward to what dish he's going to surprise us with next, and of course, it's always something mouth watering!
His flavors are so unique and delicious compared to your average spot, which is why we love bringing new people to share in the experience with us. Any time our friends are in town for a visit, they always want to go to "that one sushi spot, you took me to last time."
Thank you Chef Rick...
Read moreOn and off i have been to Ike a little over a dozen times in the last 3 or 4 years. The quality and freshness of their sushi has drastically changed since 4 years ago, while their prices have gone up.
In my most recent trip just last month, i found myself comparing some of the sushi to sushi stop just north of Ike. Does this really taste that much better or fresher than sushi stop? If it does, is it worth the price markup? To be fair sushi stop doesn’t offer everything that Ike offers. But at the same time, Ike doesn’t offer anything mouth watering or exotic. The verdict in my opinion, its not worth the markup for the slight increase in taste. On certain non-sushi or rolls, i would even wager the taste to be equal.
Also the whole thing with counter is reserved for omakase, not sure if i ever found either of the chef to be entertaining or engaging enough to worth the trouble.
Go to Osawa in Pasadena and spend slightly more money but for a way better experience. If you aren’t super picky, save money and go to sushi...
Read moreI have been coming here for more than 10 years, and was proud of having in Hollywood one of the best Sushi places in LA...small, friendly and most important high quality Sushi. Went yesterday for a very special occasion with my wife and got RIPPED OFF by the new team, (IKE is not there anymore, BEWARE) $200 for 4 plates, one with TWO (yes TWO) oysters. I told them to look well at my face, because this was the last time they would see it. What a RAPE of my wallet. If i wanted a fancy Sushi place I would have gone to one, at least I would had received the expensive place treatment, here the chef did NOT even look at us the all night, while we seated at the Sushi bar. So sad to see such a good place go...
