I spent a few days in Los Angeles and was looking for an affordable hotel in a central location. I quickly found "The Adler a Hollywood Hote"l, which is centrally located, offers reasonable prices, and has good reviews. The reception at the hotel was very friendly, and it was also possible to check in much earlier than planned without any problems (I arrived at the hotel at 11am). The room was spotless, and I felt entirely at ease. It is essential to mention that there is no room cleaning service. However, everything you need (e.g., shampoo, towels, bin bags) can be obtained around the clock from reception. An excellent concept, in my opinion! The hotel also has an ATM for withdrawing money and a washing machine for laundry. A drinks machine provides water and soft drinks for a fair price (e.g., 1.5 dollars for a can of Coke). There is also a pool in the hotel's inner courtyard, but I didn't use it. The room also has a coffee machine.
Breakfast is not included in the price. However, a restaurant on the hotel's first floor serves breakfast (no buffet), lunch and dinner. The breakfast is classic American and was very good (price around €25 per person)
The hotel is in a central location, about 5-10 minutes from the Walk of Fame. I perceived the surroundings as safe and never felt uncomfortable. When you walk to the Walk of Fame, you have to go under an underpass where one side is blocked by homeless people's tents. However, the other side is free, and when I was there, there were always a few people out and about, so I always felt safe. The Walk of Fame has everything you need: Food, supermarket, and culture. From the hotel, you can easily reach Universal Studio in about 15 minutes with an Uber. I recommend walking from the hotel to the Griffith Observatory - it's about a 90-minute walk through beautiful parks and up the hill to the observatory, where you have a stunning view of the skyline of Los Angeles and the Hollywood sign.
Despite its favorable location near a busy road, one of the main drawbacks of this hotel is the high noise level in the rooms. Due to insufficient insulation of the windows, traffic noise can be heard throughout the day and night. Despite this issue, I was able to quickly acclimate to the noise and it didn't disrupt my stay.
I paid approximately $140 per day, which is relatively cheap compared to other hotels in such a good location.
All in all, I can recommend the hotel without restrictions if you are looking for a central, well-kept, and clean hotel in...
Read moreTook me awhile to write this review… but I won my chargeback!! They are bullies!! Especially the manager Brian…i tried to cancel my hotel stay due to personal reasons, they kept ignoring my calls and emails and then after a long two months later (one week til my stay) they declined and I was still kind and patient with them so I then asked them numerous times to change the date since that was also part of my reservation too. They kept ignoring my replies and the manager Brian kept hiding and ignoring my messages. They made tons of exuses afterwards!! After two weeks they fabricated stories and kept saying I never got in touch with them ever about changing the date. They should have just cancelled like I asked them in the first place but they ignored those emails. Even after I asked about kindly changing my dates they still did not communicate. I also even asked for a partial refund but still NO REPLY, NO COMMUNICATION!!
Abraham was the front desk agent whom I spoke with a couple times as noone answered my emails and he was so inpatient and rude. He actually laughed and said the manager is always busy and doesn’t have time. They don’t have even have the proper skills how to talk on the telephone. I have never been part of an experience like this. Absolutely horrible!!! This was a total nightmare!!! Very unkind people who do not have the decency to be kind and attend to their guests and concerns. I will never even think about staying here. Such unkind people. Bryan, you made the entire process so difficult. I would suggest finding some sessions on how to run a business as well as team building sessions on how to deal with guests as well as how to properly communicate in a timely manner too.
I never write reviews and am always patient and understanding but this experience was a mess and could’ve been handeled so easily but management chose not to. They are just after your money which I understand as they are a business but we are all human, they can atleast properly reply to emails and concerns. As mentioned, they could have replied and just changed my dates if anything (as I had cancellation as well as a free date change). I was in shock when they didn’t reply or communicate!! Very unprofessional! Rude management and staff who made up lies afterwards. I would suggest staying at another hotel as they do not care about their guests at all and are not professional! Glad it is over now. Shame on you Brian and staff at Adler...
Read moreWe found this hotel via our travel agent, and it was a mixed bag of experiences. The history of the hotel is fantastic with it's nod to Hollywood decor but once you get passed the amazing autographed photos and elegant lobby you enter into a basic, cramped hotel room. I will say that the laminate floors were a very nice surprise as was the large double shower in room 119! Unfortunately the very cramped space meant that the bathroom door opened mere inches from the toilet right against the shower. The headboards were orange buttoned upholstry that didn't appear to have been updated for decades! The beds themselves were comfortable though, and the shutters on the windows were great too (I wanted to have them at my house LOL)! Having to open a window (in the shower) onto the pool space to keep humidity out of the bathroom (with or without the shower on) not so great. It lacks privacy and makes for a lot of noise. We opted not to use the microwave, as there was an actual black burn mark inside on the top of the unit which made us feel unsure of it's safety. Speaking of safety, if you are not familiar with Hollywood and are traveling as a family, walking this area at dusk or at night isn't exactly comfortable. The area is populated with homeless people (heartbreaking) and those trying to approach you to make a sale. It's an interesting and unique experience but unnerving all the same if you have children with you. Day visits to Hollywood Blvd are better with children. The man at the front desk with the ginger hair and close kept beard was fantastic! I think he is the manager and I wish I could remember his name to thank him personally. He was always cheerful and helpful with everything! The housekeeping staff was a bit standoffish for some reason, but the valets were always very helpful. I can't complain about the service at all as it was very good. We didn't get a chance to try the cafe downstairs, but I wish we had. According to the staff, Ryan Gosling comes there for coffee so it must be a pretty great place! All in all it's a good hotel if you need to be in the area and are simply looking for a place to sleep. Although your sleep may be interrupted if you face the alley like we did as there was arguing and banging at all hours! A fabulous piece of Hollywood history, but definitely has room for improvement considering the...
