Swingers in Hollywood isn’t just a diner—it’s a slice of LA history with a side of sass and really good fries. This place has been serving up late-night eats and early-morning recoveries since the days when indie bands and studio execs shared booths. It’s got that lived-in cool without ever trying too hard: checkerboard floors, jukebox charm, and the low hum of a city that never quite sleeps.
The food? Way above the curve for diner fare. Think golden pancakes with just the right chew, fresh arugula tucked into a breakfast burrito, wild-caught tuna melts that taste like someone in the kitchen actually cares. Whether you’re vegan, gluten-free, or just hungover and looking for comfort, they’ve got something legit—and made with better ingredients than you’d expect at 2am on Sunset.
What really pulls it all together is the staff. Engaged, sharp, always game for a little banter if you are, or just genuinely attentive if you’re flying solo. They know their regulars, but they’re just as warm to first-timers.
Swingers is the kind of place that keeps its edge without losing its heart. A diner that feels like home—if your home had really good huevos rancheros and cooler people...
Read moreSwingers is the kind of place that feels like it was cast in a Tarantino movie, and I mean that both as a compliment and a mild warning. Neon signs, checkerboard floors, servers that look like they moonlight as bassists in punk bands — it’s got character, no doubt. The problem is, the food only sometimes does.
Breakfast? Solid. Pancakes and eggs come out looking like they know what they’re doing. Coffee’s strong enough to reboot your nervous system. But anything beyond brunch gets dicey — like they forgot you can season food after 11 a.m.
Prices lean “gentrified nostalgia,” and the crowd is a mix of struggling screenwriters and people pretending not to be tourists. Service is friendly but a little scattered, like everyone’s running on vibes and espresso fumes.
Still, it’s open late, always weirdly comforting, and feels like one of the last surviving alt diners in L.A. But yeah, it’s more of a 2 a.m. idea than a destination dinner.
Three stars — come for the aesthetic, stay because it’s too late to find anything else open.

Read moreHonestly one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a while. I think almost every table we were near had something go wrong for them. In their defense it was a busy brunch shift.
Our main problem was our server. They came to us about 10 minutes after they took our to say they made an error and it would take a little longer. 30 minutes later one item came out with the wrong side and my partners order was "almost ready" but they stated the wrong item. After correcting them, it took another 15 minutes to get the correct item.
I would have not minded some of this but our server blamed the kitchen for the delay specifically, but it was clear that the order had been put in wrong. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry before, I was not a fan of all the blame being pushed onto the kitchen.
In the end, the food was fine, but getting brunch took about 2 hours. Kinda crazy to me. I most likely...
