Checking in: when we got there, there was a big line. Kinda unorganized. Everyone lines up in the same line even if you pre-paid or still need to purchase. Just remember to do the waiver that is sent to your email because internet service is very slow. Also don’t forget to go back to the email once you completed the waiver to acknowledge you completed the waiver. The staff was somewhat helpful but with one working iPad at the time, it was frustrating because we purchased tickets for 2 pm and didn’t get in until 2:30 pm.
Once you get in: once your barcode is scanned the host will hand you tickets and tell you to go on in to the right. But that was it. When we went to the right, there was a small room and also the bathroom. We were lost on what to do. The people in the small room had no idea what they were doing too. lol! So I had to go back outside and ask where and what to do. But anyways, we figured it out, go to the small room and watch the video for the rules of Sloomoo! Once you are done, you then will be able to go and have fun!
When entering the fun zone: you are welcomed by a happy host and helps you with your Sloomoo name! Then she directs you to the next spot which another host is there to hand you a hand sanitizer and gives you a handful of slime to put on the Sloomoo wall! This wall looked pretty cool! My little family had fun doing it! Then you’re off on your own to enjoy the amenities.
What to do with the tickets: so the tickets you received at the front you need to hold on to them! These are the ticket for you to make your own Sloomoo! When you get to the area that you create your own slime, you will hand them to the host and pick which slime texture you want, they will hand you a coin for you to get your aroma for your slime for the next station. Once you pick your aroma, you will head over to choose your color. After that you sit down at the tables and mix the slime. Last step is picking 3 charms.
Fun things to see and do: they had a sling shot which you can shot some slime at your family member. They also had Sloomoo falls where you can pay to get someone slimed!!!! This is about $25/person. They also had this cool room with kinetic sand that you can play in. The gift shop was very cute as well, recommend you to stop and see all the cute things they had.
Anyways my kids would love to come back, but me as a parent probably not worth it. The price was about $40-50/ person depending on the time and also they charge a $20 administrative fee. We paid about $250 for 5. My kids loved Sloomoo! So will probably...
Read moreTo make this short: It was horrible. A disaster. Horrid smell. Crowded. Sticky.
My family and I went there on my daughter’s 13th birthday, to celebrate. I knew she loved slimes of all kinds, fluffy, icy, glossy, and I knew she’d love a place full of slimes, even with a chance to make her own. We drove a one hour drive to Los Angeles, so we could participate, and when we arrived, we were, honestly, pretty excited. We got in line. We washed our hands, and went in. First thing we all realized, was that the smell was very sharp and strong. Full of perfume of some kind, and slime scents. It was a very bad smell, and super strong stench. I’m honestly going to apologize for those who like these smell, but when we left, our noses couldn’t get the smell out, even after hours, even now. Our shirts and car were full of this odor. It was the worst part about this. We thought, despite all this rough time we were having, our noses pierced with the strong scent of perfumey slime, we could have fun making our own. Yes, I was wrong. Not only were all the slimes VERY sticky, they all stank, and were pretty wet. The scent on the slime stuck on our hands, and we couldn’t even get it out, even using soap dozen of times, especially when we got the wet scent in, the one we could choose to put in our slimes. We had a hard and rough time with this, and took a long time through scenting our slimes and washing our hands… My son was pushing us to leave, since his nose couldn’t take the stench that was constantly over the place. After also having a tough time trying to get our charms because so many people were cutting in front of us, we were finally able to hurry outside, but even outside, our noses was still stuck with the smell. After getting home, my daughter started coloring her slime and trying to stretch and play with it. After a few seconds, the slime was getting all over the place, scent sprawling everywhere, I saw the wet, sticky, slime all over her hands, and couldn’t get it off. It was so wet and sticky, it got over her new clothes, and stuck on her leg. It also went all over the floor, which we took way too long to get it out of. To make it shorter, we had a horrible day, at least I know my daughter did. If you came to this place too, I’d like to see your review. If I could give -5...
Read moreI went on a Sunday morning (9:30am time slot) and it wasn't too crowded. Overall, my niece and nephew loved the experience particularly the chance to feel all the different types of slime throughout the Sloomoo Institute. I parked at Short Stories Hotel for a valet service and had my parking validated at the shop. It was one of the parking options mentioned on the website and it costs $10 +tip.
The Pros: I think every adult is grateful to have had sanitizing wipes available to them throughout the Institute. I meant to bring my own but completely forgot so I was really appreciative. We had the most fun with the slime slingshot and DIY slime bar. The kiddos really loved the interactiveness with choosing their own scent with their token, choosing their slime color, and then mixing their slime on the tables. Finally, every employee I encountered was so helpful and kind. Truly, no bad interaction with them.
Cons: Probably the most obvious, the tickets were unnecessarily expensive. I felt that Sloomoo Institute could just have easily made a profit if tickets were 30% less than what they are selling for. I did not purchase the extra cost in order to do the slime wall for this very reason, which would have been fun and I would have been happy to purchase the extra ticket for the slime wall if the Sloomoo Institute tickets themselves were not so expensive. Additionally, I found it ridiculous that the website offered 10% discounts on shop purchases ONLINE rather than on tickets or at the physical shop at Sloomoo. There could have been opportunities to provide discounts to teachers, or local schools purchasing group tickets. I don't think I could recommend the Sloomoo Institute without also mentioning the high prices, which I already warned...
