Tacos El Venado — Restaurant in Los Angeles

Holy moly, my new favorite taco spot. Been meaning to try them for ages, and was finally hungry enough on my way home from the cinematheque. Here’s to extraordinary art house cinema followed by extraordinary tacos.

The Al Pastor was ON POINT. It’s rare to find authentic pastor outside of DF and this is IT. As I sat by the parking lot, getting an accidental whiff of gasoline, it was almost like being back in El Defectuoso!!! Carnitas was good too, but the moist kind, rather than the crispy kind I truly love. But the meat was PILED HIGH on both tacos and the salsa bar ample and luscious. Avocado salsa!!!...

Taco spots in LA have become so popular, but for the majority the quality is just not there. Decided to give this spot a try because our usuals have just not been doing it flavor/quality wise for us. I can honestly say these are some of best tacos I’ve ever had. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. I’m very disappointed because this place is always full with people and thought it would taste amazing. Unfortunately the carne asada made me GAG. It does not taste like carne asada at all and taste like it’s mixed with a different type of meat. It had a weird texture like chewy and fatty? I am Mexican and love Mexican food, the carne asada needs work. Al pastor is good though! I do like the sauces and the horchata is the best...
