Basic burger joint, tacos, and some breakfast items, Mexican aquas (juice drinks). No table service, order at the counter. They do serve you at your table though. Staff is nice. First time I went and sat at the table and was not attended to, so I left. I decided I wasn't that hungry. The second visit is when I asked about ordering. I really wanted to go there because the fish tacos were $4.99 and they had indoor seating. The place is right across the street from the Venice Beach canals.

For affordability this place was great. My son had the shrimp basket and then we split onion rings and I had the chicken sandwich with root beers. My chicken sandwich was tasty however the chicken itself was super thin like paper. I would have liked a thicker chicken for the sandwich however next visit I’ll go with a burger. Lots of people visited this place while I was there. This is located really close to the beach. Family friendly for sure.

Amazing that this burger joint has been around for nearly 50 years while offering average burgers, below average accommodations, and practicality no service! The table looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a while, most likely due to staff shortage. The prices are high but somehow feel reasonable for the area. A burger place with a lot of unrealized potential.

Considering most food is overpriced this close to Venice Beach. This highly reviewed establishment with promises of low prices caught my eye. (Lets be honest... Thomas is my first name and this place had good prices and most importantly it was within walking distance for my happy little ass)

As we arrived, I was surprised to see it had the appearance and vibe of a traditional Mexican restaurant. While it did have options you would typically see in Mexican restaurants such as cantaloupe drink, horchata, tacos, burritos, etc. The main focus was on the burgers and dogs. I ordered a fish taco, Chili burger, fries and a coke. All of which cost under $12. None would I say were mind blowing. But all were tasty and for a great price!

As long as you can navigate the broken and insanely sloped tile floor that can make you feel as if you are 3 sheets to the wind walking on Ice. You will have a great meal.

However, the best part of my experience was to watch the over dramatic scene of two homeless men (who were clearly friends) argue over the volume...

this burger wasn't the best in the world, it wasn't awful, but it was certainly not worth 4 dollars and some change. I feel like it was highly over priced for being so cheap (the meat was the same quality as a school lunch), and the man working there seemed a lot more attentive in the beginning than he was towards the end before giving me my food, not to mention he literally went to the bathroom right before coming out to give me my order which I thought was incredibly disturbing and unsanitary....I feel like he really didn't want me there either, he had a very unhappy expression on his face, and didn't say you're welcome when I thanked him (two separate times), just stayed silent and gave me a dirty look....

This Tom's has been around a long time. They painted the outside, but there is nothing new inside. It is not good, it never was and adding the word Cafe to the name does little to improve the food or the service.

First, they got our order wrong--twice. How this is possible is beyond me. We asked for chili burgers with no lettuce. It came with lettuce. We asked them to fix it, they did it again.

The chili was ever so greasy, and we love greasy chili, but this was not something you want to eat. The fries were not hot nor were they fresh.

The place had a smell when we walked in. Not a we just cleaned smell or a chili smell, but a something is off smell. We should have left right...
