Must-Visit Free Spots in LA Before You Leave!

We had a good 3 night stay at the Venice Beach House. Good location that’s in a walkable area to restaurants, cafes, and the beach. The breakfast was a nice way to start the morning. Do note - there is no coffee or tea in the rooms but we did have a refrigerator. Because of the age of the house, the shared walls are very thin and we could hear every spoken word and every single movement of the guests staying next door to us. I did notice there were 3 other couples staying in the house and we didn’t hear them at all. In general - it seemed most people made effort to keep the house quiet and wanted to be in a beautiful space to relax and enjoy LA. It was just unfortunate the family staying next to us didn’t have that same effort - (eg up at 5:30am - loudly speaking with one another, yelling to each other in the hall). We stayed in the Pier Suite - which was spacious, and clean. I do recommend this house to those who want to unwind in a calm environment (not for those with zero sense of volume control and/or care to be mindful of others). For a 3-star hotel in the Venice Beach area, the price per night is extremely higher (eg it’s in the luxury price range) than other-same-starred accommodations.

Wow: I only left an hour ago and I had to come straight online to review this place. It’s hands down one of the most wonderful hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The staff are amazing, the breakfast – freshly cooked avocado toast, fried eggs, homemade blueberry muffins – was to die for, and the house is just bursting with character. I was only in LA for 24 hours but I almost didn’t want to leave the hotel to see any of the city! I will most definitely be coming back!

A couple months later and I’m still thinking about this place. After driving for 10 hours on a cross state trip I decided I should get a hotel for the night. I was getting into LA somewhat late-ish in the evening, 6:30 or so, and when I found this place i thought that they would be entirely booked up-given given that it sits right off the ocean. I went ahead and called anyway and I was elated to hear they had one more room available. When I arrived there was a reserved space available for me just outside the hotel. Once I entered through the front gate I walked along a stone laden path through this lovely courtyard with all sorts of beautiful plants and trees towards the front door of the hotel. When I arrived, it was slightly passed 7 and despite check in ending at 7pm, a nice receptionist girl stayed to welcome me and give me some information about how to find my room, about their free breakfast, checkout times, and even gave me a couple good restaurant recommendations in the immediate area. I got to my room and it was such a sight for sore eyes after my long traveling. The bed was perfectly made, with pristine white sheets, and large enough for me to sprawl out on- I’m 6’4. I wasted no time dropped my bags and hopped right in bed. After a great sleep, I woke up in the morning and checked out with a receptionist who was so cool that I remember her name all this time later-Alycia. Totally awesome girl-Sweet, warm, and a fun character. After checking out I went and grabbed a coffee at the coffee shop on the corner which was delicious, and then walked to the beach about 50 ft away. Overall, 10/10 experience, was just the type of place I’d recommend to anyone traveling through the area and I will be back next...

This is a lovely hotel, but I wanted to love it so much more considering I'd splashed out for a special occasion.

Can't fault the location (as long as you know what Venice Beach can be like! Can be noisy and a bit sketchy, but generally a fun vibe). We weren't staying on a weekend, so our sleep wasn't disturbed, but I imagine it easily could be.

Decor overall is lovely and impressive from afar, but like other reviews have mentioned, up-close it is a bit tired and could easily be improved. For example the stairway carpet looks like it has experienced a number of suspicious mishaps, and our curtains were pinned on in some places and came off the rails when closing. Some really small refinements would make this place WOW, as opposed to "oh, its nice i guess".

We stayed in the Pier Suite for 4 nights. Again, it was lovely, but not LOVELY. It wasn't as big as I was expecting and no tea/coffee facilities nearly made me cry. I would also call the sea view more of a sea glimpse, so best to stay somewhere else if this is important to you.

Staff are amazing and go above and beyond to help you out.

Parking was a great bonus (for $25/night) but is limited so book in advance!

Overall, I would recommend it if its comfortably in your budget, but I wouldn't say it was worth the stretch for me. It's not your typical LA accommodation and the staff/vibe are very welcoming in an otherwise crazy area, so it does feel like a little sanctuary, i was just expecting luxury and it missed the mark a little due to...

To avoid ! Much better value elsewhere

My wife and I booked a week of holiday at Venice Beach house for our honeymoon, we made sure that we would have a private bathroom (even asked). At our arrival after a 12 hours flight, we found out that : The bathroom was in fact in the corridor, and not private at all. The room was very small (barely any space to walk, only the bed). The window lock was broken and the window could not properly be closed (you could feel the air flowing from the outside), after asking reception to fix it, nothing was done. The AC was broken as well and the room was very very hot (nice combo with the broken window) The TV was not working as well The lady from the reception was very kind and brought us a bottle of champagne and some chocolate, However I would have expected the management to at least be interested in fixing the situation. I ended up cancelling the rest of my trip and checked out after 2 nights to find a much better place for the same price elsewhere, with actual closing windows, working AC, working TV. Last issue was that we went to have a breakfast at 08:30 AM and there was only banana bread still, everything else was eaten already. I honestly don’t understand how this place is rated that high, if you want to book it for a honeymoon, I hope that you are ready for a disappointing experience, I wouldn’t recommend...
