Badass Surf School — Local services in Los Angeles

My son and I went down to Santa Monica on a whim and the morning of our flight, we decided we wanted to try to surf. We found Badass Surf School and there was excellent availability, in addition to a great location walking distance from our hotel. We booked and within minutes, the owner/instructor had texted us instructions and a pinned location to meet him. He followed up with a phone call and could not have been nicer. We arrived and easily found his van, which is hard to miss! He was patient and kind and so helpful. We were terrible at surfing, and he had the patience of Gandhi helping us for the two hour lesson. Badass Surf School instructor Jake, made that dream come true. Guiding me every step of the way, pushing me, not letting me quit and making sure I got up on that board. He gave me a true authentic surfing experience - from how to properly carry your board to navigating different waves.

Badass Surf School and its instructors have been absolutely amazing at helping me in every step of the surfing process. One instructor in particular, Jake, has broken down every step into bite size pieces and was able to get me up on waves my first day out in the water. He makes the lessons fun but safe!

Badass Surf School breaks the sport of surfing down into every aspect, explaining the weather conditions, safety, etiquette and helps us even become part of the surfing community.
