DwitGolMok is a super cool korean bar/watering hole located in K-Town. When you step into the place, it's as if you were transported to another world. The interior of this Korean bar is dark and tables are closely spaced together. The place is small, but cozy. It made me feel as if I was back in Korea. In terms of 'American' bars, there's really nothing like it.
It wasn't hard for us to get a table at 9:00 PM on a Saturday. They have a wide variety of food items to choose from -- the typical Korean dishes that go along well with soju and beer. We ordered the fried chicken, seafood pancake, a bottle of soju, and their peach soju. The fried chicken was great and I'd recommend ordering that. The pancake would've been better had it been fried longer. Peach soju was also very tasty -- almost as if you were drinking a peach tea.
I see some people complaining about the prices of alcohol and I don't think that's fair. In my experience, a shot or a glass of beer in LA typically costs around $10. A cocktail can easily cost $15 depending on the location. I think a bottle of plain soju cost us $15 and the peach soju was $16/17. Yes, you can buy a case of soju at the market for that price -- you can even get soju in Korea at convenience stores for the price of bottled water --, but then you'd be drinking at home. I hope you get my point.
As for service, it can definitely take a little effort to flag down a server. The place is dark, loud, and busy, but we didn't have too much trouble asking for what we needed. I think DwitGolMok is one of my cooler discoveries as of late, and I'd definitely bring more friends here the next time I come back!
TIP: DwitGolMok literally means 'back alley/street' in Korean. If you map yourself to the address listed, you will not find the entrance. Instead find the entrance via the parking lot...
Read moreUsually I don't give reviews but was so upset with their service I had to give my experience. First off drinks are overprice, food taste so so. Order two drinks and one dish and came out to be $61 with tip $70. You serve drinks here what do you expect people not to get drunk? My friend drank most of the two bottles so was wasted. So figure let her clear her head. It was Thursday night and plenty of table and not crowded and it was only 12:30am and they close at 2am. The waiter kept coming over picked up the check and finally said sorry she can't sleep here. I'm like dude she is not sleeping she has massive hangover drinking your overpriced alcohol so give her a break. I'm a paying customer and if I want to stay till 2am it's my choice. We were their totally for less then hour and half. Eventually after 15minute with them keep staring I just carried my friend on my shoulder and left around 12:45am. Never coming to this place and highly NOT reccommend this place to anyone if you want to be treated badly and drink overpriced drinks. Was gonna call out their manager or whoever was in charge but decided not...
Read moreSocial media made me come here! So, in my honest opinion, this is a cool spot to bring friends on a weekend. It took me a cool min to find the place, google maps gave us the run around. There is ample parking in the back, arrived on a Wednesday around 8pm, we were the only ones around, we didn’t care since it’s been so long since I’ve been with my sisters!! Ordered; Fried chicken 5/5 Must get, sooo hot crispy and delicious Kimchi Pancake 4/5 My partner enjoyed this but, Dan Sung Sa took the win for me Bossam 2/5 pass on these not worth it. It was very tough unlike others around Koreatown that are known for it . The ambiance is exactly from a Korean show, you know the ones you see people drinking, eating and getting wasted? Yup, just like that! Although the service was ok, it was a great night, the company, food and beverages definitely gave this place higher stars then they deserve! Note - There is an outdoor patio, not sure if its pet friendly - give them...
