Arguably, one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to, let alone, “Cuban restaurants”. Was there last week. Got there, the music playing was festive and upbeat. We were seated. Five minutes later, complimentary toasted bread was brought. We waited for water but nothing and after 10 minutes of having bread I waived over one of the 3 waiters, each on their cell phones, to take our drink order. I asked about tostones and asked if they were fresh, as soggy tostones are tough to eat, and succinctly the waiter said they were cooked yesterday and he couldn’t guarantee they’d be good. I expected him to offer freshly cooked ones but he left it at that. I asked if the maduros were ripe and with overt disinterest he said some were and some weren’t. My brother asked if yuka was a side and he said no, it’s an extra charge. We placed our orders, the boiled yuka, a side item, came out first. No plates or spoon for us to serve ourselves, just a plate of boiled yuka in the middle of the table. After 5 minutes I waved down another waiter and asked to keep the side of yuka warm and bring along with the main dish; and besides, we had no place to serve it. More than 10 minutes later the food came. The yuka, which was actually extremely dry would have been sitting at the table for over 15 minutes before the food came. My brother’s vaca frita, a meal which when cooked is toasty and shredded, got to the table in what looked like a soup. My steak was completely inedible; not one “angle” of the steak was without tough, difficult to chew tissue. I didn’t say anything as it was obvious the waiter wouldn’t care and when my brother advised the waiter, as expected, nothing was done; no offer to replace, no offer for a discount, etc. To add insult to injury the tough boiled yuka which could not be eaten was over $11.00. Seriously? Take a look at what the table looked like when the bill was placed on it. The service was poor, the food was not Cuban, the actual quality of the food was poor and needless to...

Read moreFirst let’s start out with some positives! Portions are plenty. Plantains we’re bangin’! But everything else was less than average. For the higher price tags, I was expecting much better quality.
First the Uber Eats delivery lady was a bit of a nightmare. She was rude during several exchanges and made unnecessary threats. She was a third party and had nothing to do with Versailles but it def got things off on a bad note.
When I brought my delivered food to my apartment, I was a bit irritated and distracted the terrible Uber Eats experience, and I quickly sat the tied up plastic bag of food on a chair. I wish I hadn’t cuz when I went to pick it up, there was shrimp garlic butter sauce all on my fabric chair cushion. The bag was leaking from the poorly packaged food. So now my chair cushion reeks of garlicky shrimp. I used a lot of detergent soap and just could not get the smell out.
My grilled pork chops were a bit over done for my taste and left me wanting more. They were a thinner cut so maybe that’s why (thinner cuts of any meat are much harder to cook to perfection). And tbh I wasn’t crazy about the very acidic sauce ( might have been lemon based).
My fiancé had the shrimp and he wasn’t happy with it. He said it tasted like it was frozen shrimp as opposed to fresh shrimp. With the prices we paid, he was expecting better. The rice tasted just like minute rice or instant rice so that too was disappointing. I’m paying $60 for two meals, only to get the impression that the restaurant is cutting corners.
Beans were average. I probably won’t ever order food from this...
