Truly HORRIFIED to see that Wake and Late got new ownership and that they decided to take away the Gluten Free and Vegan options from the menu. To think that my favorite breakfast place, that I’ve been a regular customer for 4 years, is now a place that I cannot even eat at anymore is unfathomable and deeply insulting to the folks with dietary restrictions. DO BETTER.
It’s absolutely embarrassing that the noticeable changes from these new owners are:
I’ve introduced so many my friends with dietary restrictions to Wake and Late and to think they just put a giant middle finger in our faces with zero communication about why is absolutely foul.
I want to give them room to hopefully fix their mistakes, but also I hope more people leave reviews and be vocal about how unfortunate this action from new management is. Hopefully, this isn’t just a way to streamline the production line and make more money. Hopefully, the new Wake and Late management has more in mind than profit. Hopefully, they want to keep bringing breakfast to EVERYONE.
But for now, I guess I won’t be able to try your food anymore. So here’s my 5-star review turned...
Read moreFirst thing, I rarely do reviews. I tried this place based on the reviews. I love breakfast burritos! I'm in complete disagreement about these being "the best breakfast burritos". I found it to be average in taste, although the green sauce on the side was good, but the tater tots took up too much space in the burrito itself. It needed more protein. No disrespect intended, I'm just calling it like it is. I was SHOCKED at the price of $17.53 for ONE med/small sized burrito (see pic), and at that price it should have been finger lickin good! It wasn't. I can usually get 2 meals out of one, but not this one. Add the cost of parking to that. There's isn't any. There's no seating either. Sorry guys. That was my first and last time. Way too expensive for an average tasting breakfast burrito (not bad, just average at best). I just can't justify it. I've had other breakfast burritos that made me do the "food dance" with so much savory flavor. That's what I thought I was in for. I'm Sadly dissapointed. Those who think the bacon breakfast burritos are the best? You haven't had the best yet. Keep trying, you'll know it when you do. This review is based ONLY on the bacon breakfast burrito.
Ohh. The order did...
Read moreLocated at the very eastern edge of the Financial District in DTLA and to go only Wake and Late does have some great flavors and an extremely limited menu (4 options total) but the size of the burrito is very disappointing and for $20 I don’t feel that it is worth it. I say this as someone from San Diego originally so I have been spoiled when it comes to good burritos. They don’t have a parking lot, but you can do a pay lot, or metered street parking. The items we ordered were ready fairly quickly, they called our number shortly after ordering.
Being my first time I wanted to try 2/4 options so I chose the Carne Asada and the Bacon Breakfast Burrito. I know the Bacon is the most popular but between the two I enjoyed the Carne Asada more. The steak was just juicier and tastier compared to the bacon and I really enjoyed the avocado and tater tot combo in both of them. Honestly, the Cilantro Crema was my favorite part and reminded me of other delicious salsas I have had in the past.
Overall, it is very good and worth trying but for $20 a burrito I feel that they are overpriced. The burritos are also very small so if you are very hungry or hung over, you may want to try...
