Read moreYou never get a second chance to make a first impression. My friend and I are coffee lovers and stumbled upon this shop today, after discovering that 2 of our favorite neighboring coffee shops are no longer in business. First impression: framed photo celebrating Che Guevara and Fidel Castro displayed on the wall.
We are both Latina who like to support local small businesses and were immediately taken aback by this. We saw the photo, looked at each other and proceeded to walk out. Personally, I was highly offended as my family is from Cuba and I know the atrocities of the Castro regime and Che Guevara's involvement. I won't get into a history lesson, but advise that people do their research and educate themselves.
Based on the first impression, this place won't get a second chance from us, nor a first for that matter. We were looking for a coffee shop in this area and just happened to walk by and see it. We arrived at about 6 and it closed at 7 that Saturday when we were there.
It is a small place, but it has a wonderful aesthetic and fun interior design and decorations. It would be great for any occasion with one or two friends.
There were 5 of us and that was actually a bit too many. There are about 3-4 tables and a high bar-type table that faces the street. There are also a couple seats outside.
The menu is super interesting, and the staff were SO FUN AND NICE. They answered all of our weird and dumb questions about their menu. They have interesting things like date coffee, which they’ll explain to you. Unfortunately I didn't try it, but maybe next time. The staff were super accommodating and I have nothing bad to say about them, they helped make it a good visit.
I had a chai drink which was fantastic, and all my friends’ drinks were good like the matchas and the macchiatos. We sat at the larger table in the middle that could possibly sit about 6, if you move the decorations that are in the middle.
Plan on paying no lower than 4.50$ for any drink and up to 7$, just a head’s up.
But what a fun...
