I wanted to like LA Café, badly. Whatever you do, stay away from ordering sandwiches on a baguette 🥖. That supposed baguette is among the worst I have had in my life...it was dry, stale and chewy in a bad way. I had an egg sandwich in the baguette and I Just couldn't finish it, the baguette bread was that bad. Also stay clear of the croissant 🥐. It is not a real croissant, but a cheap white bread in the shape of a half moon. No real butter, no flakiness..just pure chewiness that reminds me of Subway's yoga matt infused breads. Yikes. Other than that I had an Angus beef sandwich the night before in its original panini bread, and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef was tender and juicy, the panini bread was delicious, toasted on the outside and soft inside My advice to the owners, stick to what you do well and eliminate breads (French from what I know) that are subpar. I included a picture of LA Cafe's excellent Panini

The Salmon Tacos were good but i didn't get to try the mango salsa because it was out of stock. The steak tacos are really good. The customer service was great. They have a restroom available for customers only but a person went in last night. We were waiting for 10 to 12 minutes. We decided to leave. I didn't see the tables being wipe down just plates being removed. I am mentioning this because it Downtown LA so, homeless people will sit down and ask for money then eat off left over food from plates. With viruses travel around just one purell hand sanitizer won't cut it. Washing tables after customer leave will help. There are four seats available inside the restaurant. They weren't wipe down after customer were done eating. But again last night a guy was taking up two seats reading, with a backpack, a sleeping bag and backpack. But, he had his foot on resting on the other sit.

Just picked up my COLD overpriced order. Beware even though there's a sign saying that you must have on a mask , there were 3 people inside without one and a the cashier said not one word to anyone including the guy who just walked in and placed his order. He kinda put his jacket over his face as he was leaving. There was an Asian couple inside who again placed an order inside and continued to linger inside while waiting for their order in this already crowed hole in the wall. I waited for close to ten minutes even though I placed my order via GrubHub 55 minutes prior. The cashier must've had a crush on the Asian girl because he bent over backwards for her . Meanwhile I approached the counter and he just ignored me and went to make a milkshake. Another guy came inside and stood right next to me is. I wasn't greeted at all I was moreso yelled at by this grimey dirty cashier who said what do you want too order...I replied I was here for a pickup. He said monlie , online or what? I gave him my name and tried to give him my mobile order number but he walked off instead of looking at the bags right next to him he walks around lost. He then came back to the front and my bag was number one in line so he snatched it up and ripped off the receipt for what I don't know. He then looks at the name and says my first name out very loud... I said yes that's me the only GrubHub order. I requested salt and pepper and ketchup and of course it was missing do he had to make 2 trips to the kitchen because he obviously is a weed smoker and has a bad memory. Also forgot the silverware and seemed to be upset when I asked him for a set

Monte Carlo Cafe is not far from here and they cook with Love and the food is hot and fresh. I feel so ripped of because my toast was one piece of burnt yes very black burnt bread cut in half and 3 tiny silver dollar pancakes. My hash browns were submitted for tator tots and the bacon was thin curled up and greasy. Yuck the la cafe staff wasn't wearing any type of gear either This is my 3rd and last time eating here. First time was 3 years ago and it was so much better than today the last time was about 6 months ago because they're open do late after the clubs close. Never again will they get a dime from me. I deserve combat pay. You better believe that anywhere is better than here. For what I paid I could have gotten better and more food at the many taco trucks on the street. Beware this is a dump and I can guarantee you they have RATS. . Iignoring the , 6 feet distance rule so I let him go ahead. The cashier helped him straight away while I waited. . I finally got a chance to be acknowledged because others were coming inside to avoid the crackheads begging for money....

I haven't ordered from here in a while, so when I placed my order, I was genuinely excited. However, my enthusiasm quickly dissipated the moment I arrived. The man at the front counter couldn't have been ruder; it was as if his demeanor was calibrated to make me feel unwelcome. When I walked in, he was on the phone, so I patiently waited, thinking he would wrap up his conversation shortly.

After two minutes of standing there, I raised my phone to show him my order number, hoping to expedite the process. Instead of acknowledging me, he frowned as if I had interrupted a critical discussion, held up his hand dismissively, and told me to "calm down." I was flabbergasted at such an overt display of disrespect, particularly in an establishment where customer service should be a priority.

As I stood there, I couldn't help but notice my food order just sitting there, getting cold. In any decent establishment, a polite employee would ask the caller to hold for a moment while attending to waiting customers.

After waiting another five minutes, I mustered up the courage to speak again, only to be shushed and told loudly that he was “on the phone.” If I hadn’t already paid for my meal, I would have left without a second thought. The man's laughter during his phone call felt like a slap in the face, emphasizing how little my presence mattered to him. When I asked if I could simply retrieve my order, he flatly refused, insisting that I “wait.”

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, he hung up the phone. I showed him my order number once again, choosing to remain silent to avoid further escalation. That’s when he, with an air of entitlement, aggressively informed me that he was on an “important call.”

Clearly, he believed that paying customers took a backseat to his conversation. The entire encounter left a sour taste in my mouth, and I couldn't even enjoy the food I had been looking forward to. It’s disheartening to feel so disrespected and unwanted in a place that should prioritize its customers. I sincerely hope they reevaluate their approach to customer service, as this experience was far...

I’m not sure about their other food, but the breakfast food suuuuuucks. The breakfast burrito seems to have poor proportions in it and seems to suffer the same as some of the other “sandwich” breakfast items where the grease isn’t really offset by… anything. It’s just greasy meat (plant based or otherwise) with a little bit of egg and then greasy potato. Unfortunately, their pastries also suck. The danishes get a bit stale from sitting in the wide open which really messes with the texture of the bread. The FLAVOR is there, so there is potential. Maybe try it first thing when they open? The macarons are rather bland and also suffer from getting stale, so the shells become tough. In addition, I am displeased to have seen their food safety. Perhaps it’s because I was in the industry beforehand and, at least at my restaurant, were extremely vigilant about cross contamination, cleanliness, and critters? The two biggest “red flags” were employees touching their faces and hair before handling food and that flies + ants were crawling around on the pastries. I’d say it was at least nice they tried to select items that didn’t currently have bugs on them but that’s really not addressing the problem that they’re on the food in the first place? One upside is that their coffee is decent.

I’m glad I was able to try multiple things as we all shared items with each other and that I didn’t go there multiple times for just me to get disappointed repeatedly. However, I cannot recommend this place for breakfast food due to quality nor can I recommend it for any other food due to the condition the food was stored...
