The 3 stars has nothing to do with the show. The show itself is 5 star. Why the double rating?
If you arrive early, an usher will help you find your seats. You need the assistance because labels don't exist except on the seat itself on the arm rest (1/2"×1"dirty bronzecolor metal label), and lighting is poor. As it draws near the show time start.. all ushers are overwhelmed and cannot assistance everyone and you cannot just sit anywhere because someone bought use of that seat. It gets packed in there. Sold out environment. Solution is simple.. black vinyl text cutouts 3"high text of section and rows adhered to walls where it make sense for guests. Its not expensive.
LIGHTS AT MEZZANINE AREA... it will be right in your face! The lights should be aiming higher.. its a quick fix at no cost.
Restrooms... All gender Restroom means ladies n gentleman will be in the ....same line... making a huge long line and if you use a stall to do #2.. you're gonna wish you took care of that at home. This fix is to go to the "dungeon level" to find old fashioned segregated Restrooms. Shorter lines too. Nobody tells you about the different Restrooms. For those not reading this posted rating.. they are just gonna have to figure it out.
Seats... cramped!!!! If you're morbidly obese... you'll have a problem here. Tall people... you'll have a problem here, but wait for the show to start then relocate to the edge seats (you'll see what I mean) for extra leg space. Now I don't know what accommodations they have for big n tall people.. im sure they will reply with a post regarding the accommodation.

Read moreCame here for a Cinespia screening of Edward Scissorhands and wasn't sure what to expect. I figured it'd be pretty nice since it had been renovated, but I wasn't prepared for how gorgeous it was in here! It's always amazing to see old buildings (say, anything before 1950)--all the craft and decoration that went into them, even though it must've been harder for them without all the modern technology. It was a very popular and crowded event that night, and the way they'd set up the concessions next to the bathrooms was just an absolute nightmare. We were thinking about getting a drink, but we took one look at that line and said, no way. Not to mention all the people in line to get their pics taken at the photo booth getting confused with the people in the concession/bathroom line...arrrrrgh. We just barely got to use the bathroom and make it back to our seats in time for the show.
I must say that the picture and sound quality of the movie was just so-so--I think Cinespia brought in their own set up that they use for the outdoor screenings or something. That said, we still had an excellent time. I'm sure it was mostly because it was such a cool, enthusiastic crowd. And the movie's really held up well over the years. It was definitely a treat to see a screening in a place with such...
Read moreThis place is a historic landmark. With that said, they can't do too much renovation - and they haven't. It is nice to see the historical architecture, but the seats are very small and packed in. I'm 5'3" and had to sit sideways to fit my knees. It definitely smells old. There is a bar at the entrance and another downstairs where the restrooms are located. No food sold, only candy. Careful going down the stairs, the halls aren't very well lit, and the steps are steep and made for small feet. The bathrooms are old and smelly. Look up, and you can see people standing above you at the entrance (through glass "bricks"). I've seen a concert and stand-up comedy here. For the stand-up, the lighting was terrible/stage was very dark - we couldn't see the comedian's face (we were on the floor, not far from the stage). Don't know if they didn't want the spotlight or if the lighting person forgot. 🤔 The sound was a little off, as well. Very sharp treble. Not sure I would see another show here. It would have to be...
