The Robey Theatre Company — Attraction in Los Angeles

The Robey Theatre Co. produces quality plays about the black experience. I have been to many Robey performances and have always left the theater lifted in my spirit. I've been entertained, educated, and inspired through the Robey Theatre Co. The artistic Director, Ben Guillory, produces, directs and acts in many of the productions but more so allows playwrights a place to grow and teaches a top notch acting class through The Advance Scene Workshop and has cast many of his students giving opportunities to up and coming actors. The theater is beautiful. Its built in an old bank with stainless glass window ceilings and vault doors. The play is saw there was amazing. The only fault is where the theater is located. Because of the economy, downtown Los Angeles isn't a great area. Hopefully things will become better again for downtown...
