I really hate writing bad reviews but sometimes it must be done. I am staying at the Renaissance hotel here for the first time and chose the place because I had high hopes. My husband is an ambassador at Marriott bc he prefers Marriott hotels and goes out of his way to stay at one when given any opportunity so he/we have been to quite a few in different parts of the state here in La, Tx and Ok.
I preface with all of this because I was pretty excited to try this hotel for the lounge and the restaurant that was conveniently located on the first floor. I actually heard this place (Tallulah) was pretty good, as I am originally from La, but never had dined at this restaurant before today.
I want someone to please explain to me WHY my meal cost $45 freaking dollars when all I got was a SMALL salad ($12) with a side of ranch ($1), cup of gumbo ($8) and a bowl of gumbo ($14). I was also told that the gumbo came with “2 scoops” of rice for the bowl and “1 scoop” for the cup. I received the soups in separate containers and it was basically just gumbo broth with NO chicken and a few pieces of sausage with 1/8c of rice for the cup (1/2 of a 4oz plastic container) and 1/4c of rice for the bowl (2/3 full in 4oz plastic container). The gumbo was also extremely salty but that could be because there wasn’t enough rice to balance out the saltiness.
Aside from that portions, I felt that the staff was very dismissive when I was ordering. The lady who took my order (& I wish I got her name) was kind of rude and seemed annoyed when I asked any questions. After waiting 20 min for food that was already prepared, I inquired about my order to which she replied with “well we have tickets and it’s prepared in the order it’s received” in the most condescending voice. Like chill lady, just say “oh let me check for you”. Idgaf if you have other tickets and that’s why I have to wait. I was literally just asking. Being rude to me for NO reason when don’t think I was rude AT ALL by simply inquiring on how much more time my order would take is just RIDICULOUS. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, I was charged an 18% service fee for subpar food and crappy service.
I will not be back after today. I am not spending hard earned money to be listening to people be rude and condescending for no reason. I didn’t say anything to them or management nor did I ask to take my service charge off before any of y’all calls me a Karen. I take this as an experience and a lesson learned.
I believe the lady who took my order was the manager. She appeared to be Asian and around late 50’s with short hair and glasses. And reading some of the other reviews it seems like customer service is...
Read moreI had been looking forward to dining at Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar, as I had seen it featured multiple times on TikTok and was excited to finally try it. When I was invited to a birthday dinner there, I was thrilled. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had anticipated.
When we arrived, we were the only group in the restaurant, aside from a few people at the bar. Initially, the birthday girl inquired about booking the private room and was told that a two week advance notice was required. However, she was reassured that the restaurant could still accommodate our large party. After confirming that everything was set and that splitting the checks would not be an issue, she proceeded with the reservation for 13 guests.
On the night of the dinner, 15 guests arrived, yet the manager refused to seat the additional two people with the rest of the party despite the fact that the restaurant was nearly empty. They were seated at a separate table. When we inquired about using the private room, which was vacant at the time, the manager refused again. Furthermore, the manager informed us that we were not permitted to walk between tables and that we were only allowed to split the check into four payments. He quickly disappeared without further explanation or assistance.
While our waitress was polite and did her best under the circumstances, the overall experience was extremely disappointing. As a group of professional women ages 29-34 who simply wanted to celebrate our friend’s birthday, we felt unwelcome and dismissed in a way that I had never encountered before in a restaurant.
This experience has left me questioning whether I will return or recommend Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar to others, and I hope you will take this feedback seriously to ensure better treatment of...
Read moreI am a content creator and actor in the Baton Rouge area and have heard amazing things about this restaurant. I have visited many local establishments and have never had to send any food back, much less argue with a manager. I made reservations last week and was told prior that we would be able to sit outside. Upon arriving, we were told that they were short staffed and could not seat us outside. It was disappointing but we sat inside anyways and enjoyed our meal. Yesterday, we decided to visit the bar and have drinks in the outside area. We ended up ordering a medium well creole burger and a medium burger at the bar. We got our food and sat outside like we had planned, but after looking at my burger, my "medium well" burger was almost completely raw. The top bun was hard as a brick and impossible to bite through. Our other burger was cooked correctly but the bottom bun was brick hard as well. We requested a manager since the wait staff was extremely busy and was greeted by a manager who insisted that our food was correct to her. She was completely condescending and insisted that we had explained everything wrong to her and that the burger was fine. That was not the case. Even the other customers seated beside us was appalled at how she insisted on arguing with us when we were nothing but nice to her. We ended up receiving the food recooked the way it was supposed to be in the first place, however, she made it seem like it was a huge bother to her. At this point, I will not be recommending this establishment to my followers or...
