Hello, we chose to go to Longhorn Steak House in Baton Rouge for a weekend day day. We arrived between 1:30pm and 1:45pm on a Sunday. Suprised there were not that many cars in the parking lot. We really enjoy Longhorn Steakhouse (the other locations we have been to). This was out first visit to this particular location. We walk in say hello and my wife notices the Bears vs Saints game on in the bar. She is walking towards the bar to see the score and commenting on the game. There were 3 employees at front not one said hello, good day, just something like "just two?" Or "how many?" As my wife starts to say we could sit at the bar, the hostess looks at her with this blank look, turns and starts walking quickly. We walk through, to the opposite side of the restraunt. There are only a couple other tables with guest. Right next to a large and loud group. We are so far away from the game, we can not even tell who is playing. My wife who is not a large woman has to say excuse me to get to her seat because the large group is almost touching our table. The hostess puts down these sticky/oily menus and leaves. ... I know right away I want the renegade steak amd rock island shrimp. My life thankfully has hand sanitizer in her purse. The menus were gross. She reads the menu SIX times. Throughly, and taking her time because, as usually she can't decide what she wants. On her SEVENTH reading of the menu she jokes how she is not paying more for a glass of cup cake wine than she would the bottle at the store. We do NOT see a waitress/waiter, hostess manager, or cook at all. We were never asked what drinks we would like. Not brought water. Nothing. Radio silence after we were sat down. Well, at least from the Longhorn staff. The group next to us were plenty loud, but having a great time. We slowly got our things, my wife walked close enough to check the score on the game. We left about 1:55/2:00pm. Never being waited on or acknowledged after being sat down. Our date ended up in the mall food court. No sticky or oily menus, even thought it was packed in the mall, quick service even with a line of people our food was up quickly, we had plenty of space around our table. If we wanted to be ignored by our servers and given dirty menus we would have played restraunt at home. Our God daughter could the menus and tables (2 and 3 years old). Our sons could have been our servers. They are great at...
Read moreThis restaurant is so horrible. My best friend wanted to have her gender reveal here. I called about 3 weeks in advance and I was told it would be okay to have the gender reveal there and they 13-15 people can be accommodated at a table. I was also told that they don't take reservations, but I would have to call on that day at 11:00am to put her name on the waitlist. So I called again this past Thursday to make sure that it was still okay to have the gender reveal there on Saturday and to still call at 11:00am that day. So, on Saturday I called and spoke with Laura and she stated that they could not sit no more than 12 people at the table. She said the tables would have to be spilt. I told her okay and she put the name down on the waitlist for 7:00pm. I got to the Longhorn Steakhouse before 7:00pm to be told that my friend's name was erased from the list because that is what their system does because it is a waitlist. I informed them of what I was told. Two other girls at the front kept trying to tell me otherwise and then they lied and said that one of the girls were a manager. The so called manager stated they could accommodate us and to give them 20-30 minutes. I came back in with the balloons and the cake. She (she had a blonde bob) took the cake and stated she would put it in the freezer and that it would be in good hands. So, at 7:30pm I went back up to the hostess desk and requested to speak to the manager. Well, a guy walked out who was really the manager and I was informed then that he was the manager on duty not the other girl who portrayed to be the manager. After over two hours of waiting we were finally able to be seated. After we were done eating they brought the gender reveal cake out, which I purchased from Gambinos and when I opened the box the case was smashed and pushed to the side with a glove in it. I felt as if my best friend's day was ruined for her and her husband. The CUSTOMER SERVIECE here was horrible and the management. We had to go back and forth with the night manager to be reimbursed for the cake. He tried to pay for our food at first. No sir... This restaurant is nothing like it use to be when it first opened. Please avoid going to this restaurant....
Read moreI've always been a fan of Longhorn mainly due to the fact that you can get a quality cut of steak for an affordable price - and the parmesan crust seals the deal. Most locations I've visited across the country have great service as well. However, on my first visit to this new location this week, it has none of those things going for it. To set the table, I ordered online take out - it's finally available after several weeks of being open, which is understandable. I came in 8 minutes after my promised ready time due to the lovely thing that is BR traffic. Walked in, the hostess was nice enough I guess - though she would've gotten fired at Chick Fil A or Raising Cane's - and she told me to go to the bar. There was a customer in front of me being helped by an employee. It took a couple of minutes because he seemed to be a little confused by the customer's requests and how to do a takeout transaction. Once they finished up, I assumed he'd greet me and ask me for my details. Nope. Just walked off. I stood there for over 10 minutes while not one employee acknowledged me. There were only two customers in the bar and no bartender. Finally someone came, asked if I'd been help, and said she'd be right there. She was nice and good at her job - the only upside of the evening. Got home and the shrimp appetizer was soggy and lacked flavor, the mashed potatoes were cold, and the steak was well done (ordered medium well) and HAD to have been one of, if not the most, toughest pieces of meat I've ever had to cut. It was like trying to cut a leather belt with plastic utensils...and I was using a fork and steak knife. The parmesan crust was great, but it was overshadowed by the tough, rubbery, low quality, over cooked steak. AND TO TOP IT ALL OFF, about 30 minutes after finishing, I found myself feeling TERRIBLE and in my bathroom VOMITING. Terrible night. Terrible place. Longhorn went from being one of my favorite chains to being something I won't touch with a 10 ft pole. I MAY go to another location some time in the distant future, but I highly doubt I'll ever visit this one again, which is very sad because I anticipated its arrival for nearly a year. Very...
