I loved this place. The food is fantastic. Very high quality food and the portions for the main meal were huge (probably enough for 2 meals for the majority of people). I tried the kufta and chicken plate (with hummus, rice, and salad) as well as the baklava. The chicken was super tender and delicious. The garlic oil sauce gave it extra moisture, but it was already great the way it is. Cooked to perfection. The chunks are a bit big, but easy to eat. The kufta was equally delicious. It had a bit more seasoning than the chicken, which I liked. Once again, great flavors. They give you a fair amount of rice which is very fluffy and well cooked. It came with a vibrant little salad. It was fine, nothing too crazy. I really liked their take on croutons. They were more crispy than the average crouton and added a ton of savory flavor. Great hummus that was creamy and flavorful. Really what set this place apart from others was the service. I was trying to find this place and randomly ran into the owner, who helped me find it. He was very nice and talked to me about his life, the restaurant, the food, and his experiences in Pittsburgh. He even gave me a free drink! What a great guy. All in all, I highly recommend this place. It's run by awesome people and the food is also super tasty. Very reasonable prices, high quality food, and great portions.

We stopped here on our way to The Actors Theater of Louisville, which is just around the corner. The food was amazing. Our party of four ordered cocktails and beer along with chicken fajitas and steak kabobs. The owner was very friendly and engaging. We talked about the restaurant making a comeback after being destroyed in the riots a couple years ago. Centrally located in downtown, it is a must-visit, locally owned, authentic cuisine restaurant. The price to quantity ratio is great and the food is delicious, making it a great value, much better than any chain restaurants in the area. We are from out-of-town , but will definitely return on future visits to Louisville. The owner says they are very busy during weekday lunch. We didn't choose one, but it is worth noting that the have vegetarian options.

This is the hidden gem of Louisville. We walked in one night and the wait was 30 mins so we left. As we were leaving, patrons told us it was worth the wait. We came back the next night and were almost turned away because they ran out of food. Thank God they let us come in as the last cuatomers of the night... omg the food was DIVINE. First review using that description. The lamb was out of this world! The chicken masalla was godly. They Lao have a huuuge beer selection. The owner was also very attentive and made pleasant conversation. Will be back many times!!

Honestly I "used" to love comming to this place and eating with my my daughters or co workers, now i dont TRUST them touching my food...i stopped ordering my usual (curry chicken meal) because i didn't eat the hummus or the side salad it came with. I started substituting with a "kids chicken and rice meal & a side of curry sauce" it was half the price and i could enjoy the same portion of food. The owners wife didn't like me doing so if my daughters wasn't present when ordering... she turned down my $ 2 times?...usally end up spending $30-$40 everytime i come. I came with my 2 daughters and dined in on 8/26/2017 and ordered "3" kids meals, wine, greek salad, sides ect. and ordered a curry chicken meal to go (didnt get full off the kids meal) the owners wife seemed frustrated with me, handed me my to go order and said "I like you ...but you can not out smart me and question why i ordered 3 kids meals) after spending $50.00 that day. Got home and to eat my curry chicken meal and i was SHOCKED to taste my food had been ruined with "extra" salt added in my curry SMH . I am very offended at the way i been treated, and also for my food to be tampered with after spending $100's with this restaurant. I will not be back! It shouldn't matter what the customer orders, i would NEVER turn down ANY $ that a customer chose to spend with u out of all the other choices out there , ever wonder why McDonalds stay busy and is a multi million dollar restaurant? This place is only busy during lunch time, during the afternoon they are dead.... No telling what else they do to your food when they are upset with a customer . That is very disrespectful and SCARY. I would never ever TAMPER with a persons food, my tummy was hurting for 3 hours after and i had diarrhea for 2 days smh. And yes i have called the health department regarding this issue to prevent anyone elses health from...

Went into Addis on our way back from 4th street. I believe we stopped in there because there was no bar crowd. There were 10 in our group and we wanted to drink. The owner, Abbis (sp), took our order and then the magic happened. Our group consisted of five men and five women. The lady's drank beer and sat at a high table, and the men stood at the bar and drank bourbon. Our knowledge of bourbon was very minimal until Abbis, who is Ethiopian by the way, explained it in a very easy and persuasive manner. We sampled several makers of bourbon and just listened to him speak about bourbon and different ways to enjoy it. I highly recommend this place for sampling bourbon. The prices are great and his selection covers many bourbon makers in Kentucky. At the first sight of this place, it does not look like a bourbon bar. So If you want ambiance and expensive fixtures, go to 4th street, and expect to pay double what Abbis charges. He has the knowledge and selection to further your bourbon experience.

When we come back to Louisville, Addis bar and grill will be...
