Overall not pleased. Me and my friend decided to go to the BBC for lunch. Not a good idea. I felt the consequences of this restaurant for days. We walked in to an empty restaurant, which is totally fine, but the atmosphere of this restaurant felt dirty and stale. The host was very nice and greeted us immediately, the server was a different story. She seemed very fed up which was not appealing nor appropriate. It felt forced as if she wanted to act different to get a good tip, this did not work. We ordered 2 drinks and a cheese pizza. After a couple of minutes passed and my friend had finished half her drink, she came over and picked it up from behind her, not asking if she needed a refill or something different. Once the pizza came out all hell broke loose. Right when we were served the pizza the server looked back at us after she walked away, which gave us a very unappealing feeling, as if it was a warning or something. And a warning we needed indeed. The cheese on this pizza looked like it came from boxed pizza. Some parts were stretchy while others were tough and not melted. There was WAY too much cheese. This isn’t even the worst part, shocking i know. When we were blatantly done with the pizza it took the waiter a while to come over and ask if we needed the check. She was sitting by the bar just on her phone, mind you we were one of the only people in this restaurant. Me and my friend both had our cards on the table, assuming she would split the check since there was two of us and she didn’t ask. Nope she comes over shows us the bill for a split second then picks up my friends card without any hesitation. WILDLY inappropriate in my opinion. At this point we were happy to get out of there. The following days had felt like hell, both of us with a stabbing sensation in our stomachs with no prior problems. Good poisoning? Maybe! We went into this thinking cheese pizza would be a safe option, welp we were wrong! 100% not...
Read moreYou are immediately directed by a sign declaring "Beer is Food" with a disembodied hand pointing you in the right direction of said beer. Bluegrass Brewing Company is on a prime corner in downtown Louisville where you have to walk down a couple steps to enter (I've always loved bars I had to slink into and then see the people walking on the sidewalk look down upon me and my pints--they probably think they're better than me). I started with the Brewhouse Nachos ($12) that piled on the kettle chips, bacon, beer cheese, blue cheese, green onions, and jalapeños. Good serving for only two and--I can't believe I'm going to say this--it could've used less beer cheese! Too much of this good thing dominated experiencing the other ingredients and is, ultimately, a waste of good beer cheese (for patrons and the bar). I paired it with a pint of their Dank IPA ($5.75), a classic American IPA, which was... Fine. I then ordered their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich ($12.60), made from a piece of fried chicken breast, topped with blue cheese crumbles, chopped celery, and served on a Brioche Bun. The fries needed to find their one true-love, salt (because it's hard for salt to stick to fries when the oil has already evaporated en route to its final destination on the table). The buffalo sauce overpowered the sandwich and to quote, Ralph Wiggum, it "taste[d] like burning." It needed less sauce and more blue cheese; food is a balancing act of flavors. I loved the addition of celery and will make it an added staple to my homemade version. For dessert, I closed out with their Homewrecker Double IPA ($5.75), which was wasted because the sandwich wrecked my tastebuds. I think it was a good beer? They really need to keep the beer menu updated because there were additional beers featured on thier not-easy-to-notice chalk board... Or at least have the servers enlighten patrons with what's on it. Overall it was a decent experience that can definitely be...
Read moreI will say my first couple of times here were actually great. Eric, one of the bartenders, is fantastic, engages in conversation and has great food/drink recommendations. In my opinion it is what you look for in a bartender.
I was there recently with a co-worker and the staff almost seemed annoyed we were at the bar drinking. We were one the of the last two remaining with almost a couple of hours before close. One staff member was walking around in a bra, drinking and seemed quite impaired which was super unprofessional. Some staff heard us order another round of beers and wanted our next round of beers to be in to-go cups so they could go home. Eric did stand up and shut that down quickly and continued to serve us and treat us with the upmost respect.
Gave it another shot and went back in high hopes Eric was working. We had a bartender, Stephanie, she was nice, kind of quiet and just poured beers. Toward the last couple of hours they were open there were still people/customers at the bar and even familes at actual tables eating. Staff decided to turn on some really loud and explict music to the point I couldnt hear my friend talking who was seated right next me. The music was horrible, screaming, cussing, rap music that was constantly using very vulgar language and was the most unprofessional scene iv been around. If you're going to play that kind of music atleast have the respect to play a clean version. We decided to call it after they continued to clearly not care what they were doing. I truely believe the staff working did this on purpose to prevent people coming in and to get people to leave. Everyone had sour attitudes and did not seem they were happy to be there.
Management needs to seriously re-evaluate some of their staff. My friend and I truely enjoyed this place, their beer, food and looked forward to going. These last couple of visits have ruined it and sadly we will not...
