It's Labor Day and we just spent 3 hours at the Louisville Zoo and 90° weather. We got in the car and thought "Man, ice cream sounds great!"
A quick Google search lead us to Ehlers. We haven't been to this location before and it was right on our way home, so it was an easy choice.
This Ehlers location is kinda small, but comfy small. There are 4 or 5 tables and some tall chairs at a counter that look outside. I get the feeling this location is relatively new, and it's very welcoming and makes you think "ice cream!". It's also very nicely air conditioned inside....WHEW!
At the counter, they have 9 "Always Flavors" Vanilla Chocolate Strawberry Orange Sherbet Cookies n' Cream Cookie Dough Mint Chocolate Chip Butter Pecan Bourbon Pecan Fudge
Then there are 3 limited time flavors. I've had Strawberry Ice Cream on my mind, quite literally, all do, so mine was an easy choice. My wife always goes for the Mint Chocolate chip.
The nice young lady took our time to offer suggestions and let me try the Bourbon Pecan Fudge (That stuff is amazeballs!). She then turned around and got our scoops for us. She was very friendly and helpful.
The ice cream was Most Excellent, and exactly what I needed after a long, hot, sweaty trip to the Zoo.
This was a great first visit and I'm kinda bummed that it's so far from home. At least can visit when we...

But to my demise when I ordered a regular sized cone of mint chocolate chip my taste buds where not happy. The ice cream had an odd grainy feel and left me with a stomach ache. I love Ehrler’s and this experience was...
