Wow, just wow! Our experience at J. Graham’s was nothing short of exceptional from start to finish. Some of our party arrived early and were promptly seated, setting the tone for an effortlessly smooth afternoon. When I arrived, I was warmly greeted by the delightful hostess, and a server immediately came by to check in on me.
We all opted for the Saturday buffet, and it was outstanding on every level! Every dish I tried (and I tried almost everything) was absolutely delicious—each bite a testament to the care and skill of the culinary team.
One of our party members has mobility issues, and we arranged for a scooter to be delivered by a local company. The bell service at the Brown Hotel went above and beyond by holding the scooter until she arrived and promptly bringing it out to her. This thoughtful assistance made her feel comfortable and well-cared-for from the moment she stepped in.
What truly stood out, however, was the incredible hospitality. The wait staff were not only friendly and attentive but also genuinely personable. It was clear they took pride in their work, which made the whole experience feel even more special. At one point, I complimented our waitress on the meal and service, and she responded with sincerity, saying, “It’s really great working with this guy,” as the head chef passed by. He graciously stopped for a brief chat, humbly accepting our praise and leaving a lasting impression.
The atmosphere at J. Graham’s felt like more than just excellent service—it felt like being welcomed into a family of people who truly love what they do. It’s a testament to both the team and the management, who foster an environment of positivity and excellence.
Bravo to everyone at J. Graham’s for going above and beyond, especially in an age where that level of care feels increasingly rare. This restaurant exemplifies true southern hospitality, and if I could rate it beyond five stars, I absolutely would! Thank you for an...
Read moreWe went today for the Easter Brunch buffet and were unfortunately underwhelmed. We started out on the wrong foot. When we arrived, the host was pleasant and welcoming but then attempted to give me a compliment by saying he would seat me and my husband by the windows, as that's where he seats all the lovely ladies because it's "good advertising." I know it was meant to be funny and meant to be a compliment, but oddly enough, commenting on how my looks can generate business for them didn't exactly flatter me, especially when we were about to pay $42 each for brunch. I was tempted to comment on how I would be happy to market their business for them in exchange for a free meal, however it being Easter and all, I kept my mouth shut, as "nice ladies" are supposed to, and the opportunity to teach him a lesson on equality and objectification passed me by. A simple "welcome to J Grahams, you both look very nice today, I hope you enjoy the window view" would've done just fine. On to the actual brunch. The service was wonderful. The food was just ok. The prime rib was very dry, the carrot soup was overly sweet and would've been much better had it been strained, but instead was really lumpy. The cheese grits lacked flavor and the mashed potatoes were borderline gelatinous. The highlight was the salmon cooked in a blackberry bourbon sauce, which was actually delicious. I felt like the buffet was more like $20 quality than $42 quality. Lastly, while we were there, the power went out. Obviously this was not their fault and the staff actually handled it wonderfully. However, it would've been in good taste to offer to take a round of our mimosas off the bill, or offer us another round on the house, as we had to wait some time to pay our bill, as their credit card machine wasn't working due to lack of power and they were doing everything by hand. For a supposedly fine establishment as the Brown Hotel, I would think that would be standard practice. We...
Read moreI highly recommend visiting J Graham’s Café inside the famous Brown Hotel. This is truly a one-of-a-kind experience that transports you back to the 1920s. The décor and architecture are stunning and make you feel like you’ve stepped into another time.
I read that back in the day, the Brown would draw over 1,200 guests each evening for its dinner dances, which went late into the night and ended with the traditional ham and eggs. Out of that tradition, chef Fred Schmidt created the iconic Hot Brown—an open-faced turkey sandwich topped with bacon, tomatoes, and a delicate Mornay sauce. You absolutely must try the original right here where it all began.
On Sundays, J Graham’s serves an extraordinary buffet with an impressive variety of food. You’ll find salmon, chicken and waffles, made-to-order omelets, fresh shrimp, deviled eggs, smoked salmon with bagels, Caesar salad, charcuterie, soups, vegetables, ribs, and so much more.
What made our visit truly exceptional, though, was our server Kat. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. My daughter has a nut allergy, and Kat was so thorough and cautious, taking the time to confirm with the kitchen that every item was safe. Her genuine concern and careful attention gave my daughter such peace of mind and made us all feel completely cared for. Kat wasn’t just attentive, she was warm, thoughtful, and truly outstanding at her job. My daughter absolutely adored her, and our entire family was deeply impressed by the level of service she provided.
Because of Kat, our experience at J Graham’s Café was not only delicious but also unforgettable. I would gladly come back here again and will absolutely request Kat as our...
