Untrained staff who do not know how to talk to customers. There were several issues with this restaurant, but we initially overlooked them since we walked in at 11 PM. I am not criticizing the late-night service itself, but rather the staff’s attitude. Still, I’ll list the issues so you know what to expect if you visit around that time: Only half the menu was available (possibly due to the kitchen being closed or understaffed) – understandable. No cutlery or water was provided when we found our way to the booth (likely due to understaffing) – understandable. The restaurant was playing an extremely loud audio recording of a live performance – annoying, but perhaps part of their attempt to create a “quirky” live-music vibe – understandable.
However, the real problem was the interactions with the staff. They were condescending and arrogant.
The issue began when the bartender charged my card twice for the same order. When I pointed it out after seeing two charges on my statement, he APPOLOGIZED AT FIRST and asked if I wanted the same order again. Since I didn’t plan on drinking more, I declined, and he called the manager. After that, the bartender kept his distance, possibly to avoid further confrontation or to let the manager handle it.
Unfortunately, the manager was rude and unwilling to engage respectfully. Listing down my experience- She would start a sentence but stop midway with, “I don’t know how to explain this.” with the expression that clearly showed that she looked down on tourists. Her inability to communicate/finish a sentence is not a reflection of my ability to comprehend. She denied the duplicate charge and told me to contact my bank. I did, and the bank confirmed that the restaurant had indeed charged me twice, instructing me to request a reversal directly from them. When I relayed this to her, she became visibly frustrated—gnashing her teeth, raising her voice (possibly to compete with the obnoxiously loud music monologue), and treating me disrespectfully. I wasn’t at my best either—having a restaurant manager shout at me with visible anger and frustration over a clarification was overwhelming and scary. She first told me to come back the next day if the charge wasn’t reversed, but when I confirmed I would, she changed her mind and told me to call instead. I had no intention of returning anyway, but under these circumstances, leaving a 100% tip hardly seems justified.
At the end of the day, a manager’s primary job is to liaise with the customer. Of course, you will encounter customers who are difficult, foreign, or simply unfamiliar with your practices. And the expectation typically is that the manager would communicate respectfully and clearly, with the intent of resolving confusion and putting the guest at ease. Instead, this manager did the opposite—leaving me more confused, frustrated, and dissatisfied than when I walked up to the counter. This could have been handled better if only we were calm and respectful. I apologise for my reaction to your tone, but I would urge you to be mindful and respectful when a customer...
Read moreOverall: Very good food Me and my family got a pretty wide variety of food here so here are my thoughts.
Price: It definitely wasn't cheap but if you don't get a side of fries it's about the same price as anywhere else but at a way higher quality so I definitely recommend.
Patrick burger: Very good, I tried bites with and without the pickles and I preferred without pickles.
Cod: Very good, had an actual flavor other than "fishy" and we all liked it. Also the pieces were pretty big. Shaved Steak Quesadillas: Pretty good, I enjoyed how much meat was actually in the quesadilla.
Chicken Strips: Extremely tender, fell apart like fish so definitely high quality.
Mac & Cheese: Perfect. The best Mac and cheese I think I've ever had. Strawberry shake (Non-alcoholic): Pretty good, a little pricey for how much there was but not bad.
Bourbon Apple Cobbler: Pretty good, I definitely enjoyed it. There was a bit too much salt in the caramel for my taste buds but I'm not sure the rest of my family agreed with me on that so take it with a grain of... Salt... Hehe, puns.
French fries: Mediocre at best honestly. All the food was top tier but the fries kinda sucked and at $4 for a side of fries I would definitely save my money there.
Extra notes: Very goo...
Read moreOur cousin’s rehearsal dinner was held here and we had such a fun evening! The restaurant is very long and has a second floor. We had the very back two rooms reserved and it gave us more than enough space. I will note that the steps to the second floor are located in the back room. So we did have people not associated with our party occasionally passing through. But this was such a casual evening that it certainly wasn’t a bother. This place is loud and full of fried food. Be prepared for a laid back atmosphere!
Our bride opted for us to simply order off the regular menu - it wasn’t limited or pre-set in any way. We were spoiled! Our table decided to order a bunch of appetizers to share and we had a great time. I think my favorites were the smoked wings (amazing smoky flavor and crunch on the outside) and the loaded tots (the beer cheese and bacon!!). The loaded nachos and cheeseballs were good, too. But I will say that I expected the nachos to have a bit more BBQ pork and the highlight of the cheeseballs was actually the dipping sauce (which quickly became too spicy for me). While I heard that the calamari was too chewy, I heard the pretzels...
