Pho Lan scratches that itch by having decent quality pho in Northern Colorado, a region that's lacking in quality Vietnamese food. I ordered a bowl of the Pho Dặc Biệt (which at Pho Lan includes: rare steak, brisket, tendon and tripe).

The broth was well-rounded and tasty but not as bold and flavorful as some contemporaries you can find elsewhere in Colorado. I thought that the portions were good and that the ratio of meat to noodles was balanced. Pho Lan only offers one size for their bowls of pho and most people will be plenty satisfied. The staff was also very warm, friendly and provided great service.

All in all, Pho Lan isn't my favorite. I've eaten many bowls of pho over the years, including in Vietnam itself (southern, central and northern styles) and in US cities with the highest Vietnamese populations like San Jose and Houston. If they were located in the Denver metro area, I'd never pick this place over some of their competitors like Pho Tony (Lakewood), Pho Duy (Broomfield) or Pho888 (Aurora). However, they are by far the best pho joint in the Fort Collins-Loveland area. For that reason, I think they...

Was honestly disappointed. I was very hopeful given some of the older reviews. Should've known better. We went for pho and while it's not a bad tasting, there was zero depth. You would've gotten more favor from a home made instant noodle. I'm not sure about the beef either, looked like processed roast beef to us. The cut isn't the ones you're used to in authentic pho. The staff was.. ok? Not rude but more like "I'm here aren't I?". The place is also very impersonal. Taco stand practices in a full on restaurant. All in all in a pinch and broken down car with you standing beside it on a cold day? Sure go on in. Otherwise just make something much better at home. I'm bummed, reading the old reviews I wish I had visited before it changed to what it is now 😥

Side note - they really should stop pre filling glasses of water and letting them sit there open till someone comes in. Looks lazy and tacky to be honest. Doesn't take much effort to fill the glass WHEN...

So I ordered the pho beef bowl to go and they gave me a package of raw beef in my box. The beef blood bleed all over my rice noodles and my fresh basil, etc. and when I called the place to inquire why I was served raw beef the owner promptly yelled at me. I asked him to stop yelling at me, and he went on to say “I’m not going be taken advantage of”. I wasn’t trying to take advantage of this owner at all, but wow the way he responded when I told him I wanted my money back for serving me completely raw beef was astounding. Repetitively he yelled and yelled at me saying I was wrong and to return the food then (I live out of town, so I can’t just up and drive back to give the food back). Then finally he yelled at me and said “you don’t like? Fine goodbye” and promptly hung up on me. Terrible customer service. I would’ve been down to try this again if the OWNER didn’t yell at me so harshly for tell him I was unsatisfied with...

Got a lot of things to say about this place. The restaurant is family owned, and the chef is the owner's wife. They are for the most part, the only workers in the restaurant, and they do their best to give service as quick as possible. We came during the rush time during dinner and had to wait a while to get our food, but we didn't mind. My parents spoke to the owner for a bit and found out that he started up the business about 30 years ago to provide for his family and the restaurant has been there ever since. He's a very energetic man who loves chatting. Don't hesitate to speak with him if you're stopping by! If you know Vietnamese that's an added bonus, I don't think they get a lot of Vietnamese speakers around the area. The food was good and the decorations are lively. The owner plans to retire in maybe 2 or 3 years so try this place while it's still around!

Maybe I'm new to the Pho scene and my lack of Pho is skewed but I am a chef and I know I have an understanding of balance. This Pho was great, not phenomenal, but still great. The chicken was just right, the shrimp was tender and neither overcooked or raw. The noodles were had the right about of bite to them and not overly boiled. Loved the idea of having grilled shrimp in the spring roll but would like to see less cream cheese in the crab wontons, I'm not a cheese person anyways but my girlfriend did like them. The wait staff was ok, they were a little busy so I understand why the server only made a few trips, besides I'd like to eat and not be questioned ever 3 minutes; that would make me feel rushed. They were polite and sat us fairly quickly. Overall, I'd come back here and dine again. Thanks for the opportunity.

After years of great service, I'm afraid we will not be going back after today's experience. We called to notify the restaurant that we had found a pebble (size of a peppercorn) in the lemongrass shrimp AND a piece of wire from the grill brush was in one of the two combo grilled bowls. I've been going there since they opened in the old building and have never had an issue, or called to complain about anything. The daughter is always pleasant, but when she put the father in the phone to discuss this, he became very defensive and told us that we "complain too much" (again, this was the 1st time ever over many years) and to come get our money and never go back. WOW. I didn't care as much for getting my meal replaced as I was with bringing this to their attention. Very displeased about how it was handled.
