I was at Ruben's Grill last night with a group. Tasty food was timely prepared, staff was friendly, a convenient location for every one to meet at, and the final bill was on point. We have already made plans to return. Update: Well, our group tried to go back three more times for our monthly meetings. Unfortunately, the reservation was messed up all three times. The first time they apologized and said they mistakenly double booked. The second time they said they had no reservations for that evening but we still had to stand around for a bit and negotiate for space even though we could see no-one was seated at the table. Giving the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, we tried again. We scheduled our reservation a month out and confirmed it a week before. Out of an abundance of caution I called AGAIN a few days out and surprise….. they now had NO reservation on their books. At that point we just gave up and started meeting elsewhere. Which was very disappointing because the crossroads exit was a great central location for people coming from Fort Collins, Greeley, or Loveland. I wish them the best and hope they are able to address whatever problem they are having but if ever tried to schedule our meeting here again the other 9 members of the group would laugh at me for...
Read moreOur dinners were great; The fajita burrito (with steak and mushrooms) smothered in queso was delicious. The hawaiian fajita was a unique but amazing meal.
The rice you get on the side is bland and not good.
The Cheesecake Chimi for dessert was a little disappointing for a couple of reasons. The taste was good but I am not sure it was worth the $11 price. You live and learn, I wouldn't get it again but no big deal.
My bigger issue is that we were also upcharged $3 for added ice cream. We never asked about ice cream and the waiter never asked us, so we though it was just part of the dessert. The $3 Ice cream upcharge option is also not mentioned on the menu, so it wasn't until seeing it on the bill that we even knew what happened.
To be clear, $3 extra isn't the issue. $3 for 3 scoops of ice cream is not even a bad price. The issue is a waiter taking it upon themselves to alter an order and then charging more for it without a word to the customer.
Feeling taken advantage of was a poor way to end an otherwise outstanding meal, and not being able to trust a server to give me what I order or be up front about any changes is a deal breaker for me.
The food is good enough here and they are popular enough, being sneaky with prices...
Read moreThe service was great but the food was average. 1st the Hostess had a welcoming smile and was very nice. 2nd our server Allen was Awsome and very attentive and was great at checking on us. The food on the other hand was average and not very flavorful and bland. I orderd nachos with ground beef and it had about 15 chips and a cup of ground beef $ 7.00 for cheese and add $ 3.00 for beef was not filling and bland. The 2 Ala cart hard shell tacos were ok but greasey ( had to add salsa for taste) for $ 6.00 my wife ordered the trio enchiladas and she said they warm not hot and also bland for $ 18.00. I only ate half of the Nachos but both tacos and my wife took here home and reheated and finished the rest. So for $ 49.00 w/tip was not great. If your asking why we didn't say anything about the food, I don't believe in saying anything and have food sent back. Im not saying anyrhing would happen but have been in the food industry and you just know what the cooks will do ( not saying they would do anything to the food) We get what we orderd and will decide if we will be back. The restaurant was full and happy to see that location doing well after 4 failed restaurants. Maybe it was a one off but doubt we will be back. To expensive for...
