Panera Bread — Restaurant in Lower Macungie Township

About a week ago I had placed an online order for delivery. I had stated to leave the food on my bench on my porch and send a text. We'll, I got the text but lo and behold, no food. I try to contact the driver but no response so I call the store. Upon calling, a woman answered, not stating her name. She claimed the driver had delivered the food to my address and left it on the bench, despite me literally standing on my porch, looking at said bench and nothing was there. The woman started describing how to get to my house? Reading street names and such, she was correct but that didn't fix the fact that my food was still missing. She tells me the driver would come back around and bring my food to me. No apology. An hour passes, my food is still not here. I call again and a woman who does not give me her name (I imagine the same woman as earlier) answers the phone and immediately puts me on hold when I tell her why I'm calling. I'm left on hold for about 5 minutes before a different woman picks up, asking me, "what do you want?" I repeat myself for her, give her the name on the order and ask what is happening. She says that it's out for delivery and promptly hangs up. Again, no apology. Another hour passes by and I haven't gotten a call or a text to let me know if my food is here or not. I go check my porch, there it is, sitting there for who knows how long. I am quite frankly shocked at how rudely I was treated by the staff at this location due to their own errors and never once received any kind of apology. The order was 100% accurate and the food was delicious, (and I'm sure mine is an uncommon case) but due to the staffs unnecessary rudeness to me, I will never eat at...

Panera’s used to be one of my favorite places to treat myself to a meal when I was on the road with work. I was so disappointed in our visit today.

The wait time for food was longer than I’ve ever experienced, and they were definitely not busy. The staff were withdrawn, no eye contact or smiles, with the exception of one young lady, who did engage us and apologize for the wait. After waiting 15-20 for our order, I had to ask two separate staff members for cups for our beverages. They were out of both the hazelnut and dark roast coffee, and the light roast was room temperature and tasted like it has been sitting all day. The blood orange lemonade tasted watered down. The meals were underwhelming. Barely any feta on my Greek salad and hardly any meat on the Steak and white cheddar sandwiches. My son did say the flavor was good when he got a bite that contained more than horseradish and bread. My daughter did say that her bacon chipotle grilled cheese was very good.

As for sanitation, we were in there over an hour and did not see any staff member so much as were the crumbs off of a single table. So much for cleaning and sanitizing every 30 minutes. I went to use the ladies room before we left, but walked in looked around and walked out.

I haven't eaten at a Panera Bread in many years, so this was all sort of new to me. The three of us ordered items with the "2 for" designation, but it appears that the cashier rang it up incorrectly and we instead paid for two full meals each at the full price. My wife was taking care of payment so I didn't really pay attention to the total, but when we sat down to wait for our food, I was a bit surprised by the total. We had a receipt but it just had the total, and not a breakdown of what we ordered. Odd. When the food arrived, it didn't seem like they were half sized portions, so that is likely what happened. No, we didn't go complain to thw cashier, as it was probably too late. Anyways, the tables weren't that clean, but somebody did often empty the area where you return the plates and silverware. The drinks were overpriced and the food was okay. The Cobb Salad that I had was good, but the teriyaki chicken broccoli bowl wasn't that good. I'm not sure what was the name of the fancy rice that they used, but I didn't like it, and neither did my daughter who also ordered that same bowl. My wife had soup and salad and she liked it, but wasn't crazy about the expensive iced tea that she bought. So, the place was okay, not great, and we were overcharged. I won't be coming back here...
