Was originally excited for ramen in trexlertown, but unfortunately had the same experience as Rakkii Ramen in Bethlehem. The food is bland. Got the karrage chicken which ellicited the response "it's chicken." I didn't know I could be disappointed in a fried chicken. Then got the tonkotsu black garlic ramen. I am a huge fan of ramen and the flavor is barely there. I barely tasted garlic in the broth. I'm not sure if it's the tare they make, but it's not good. I had to add soy to help give it some salt. Chasu was was tender. Also, very dissatisfied in their Covid precautions. The front of the store is windows so it's very easy to see into the store. 3 out of the 4 young employees all at the food prep area without masks on. This food prep area is small. They quickly pulled then up when I opened the door. Then what seemed to be the manager was sitting at a table doing paperwork did not seem to care. I did make it known it was evident they were maskless in a food prep area, which they originally denied then rationalized with "well I'm just making my own food." These are young adults but the manager should maintain the integrity of their establishment. Also these employees seemed clueless about bubble tea. They should be trained on the basics of a milk tea. If you want ramen in the trexlertown area, just go to the Shelby on Wednesdays. Pricier, but much more filling. Their broth is rich and flavorful with mouth watering pork belly and soft soy egg. Of all places for ramen, I was very disappointed in the place that's supposed to be "real Japanese ramen" would be so bland.
I would also like to add that I have had like 5 different people tell me they had ramen and it was bland! Guess which chain it came from? It's Rakkii/Takkii ramen. Seriously I'm not sure how this owner can open numerous locations. STOP INSULTING TRADITIONAL JAPANESE RAMEN. stop advertising that you studied in Japanese...
Read moreDecided to go here after going to Takkii Ramen in Reading. Food looked disgusting. My boyfriend and I both order pork gyoza and chicken Ramen. The smell was absolutely terrible. My boyfriend couldnt even eat his food he took a few bites and felt like he was going to throw up because of the smell. When we brought it up to them that we didnt eat the chicken cause of how it looked and he couldnt even eat any of his food they said thats just how it is. If you order it make sure you can't smell and your ok with noodles that taste as if their reheated. Spending almost $16 on something that tasted absolutly terrible is unbelievable. The bill came out to almost $51 and we barely ate anything. The staff not doing anything to understand the situation also didn't help anything at all. We were there for about 30 minutes and got checked on once and then completely ignored, while they seen us picking thru the food. Definitely will not be going again and definitely not...
Read moreI went in with my daughter as well as my significant other, planning to grab something for myself and him while she ate the food she brought along. She doesn’t eat the kind of food they serve here, so I thought this would be an easy way for us to have a meal together since that is what we are used to. As soon as we walked in though, we were told she couldn’t have her food inside. The staff mentioned there was a sign at the front, but honestly we didn’t notice it because we had just walked straight in. I understand restaurants have policies, but as a mom it felt disheartening to be turned away when all we wanted was to sit down and share a meal space with our child. A little kindness or flexibility would have gone a long way in making us feel welcome instead they lost...
