Mochiatsu Feasterville is everything wrong with trendy, watered-down โAsian-inspiredโ cafes that are popping up with zero authenticity or care. Letโs talk facts: they use powdered boba. Not house-made, not fresh, not even decent โ powdered. That alone should tell you how little they care about quality.
The texture? Disgusting. Grainy, chunky, inconsistent โ some sips feel like drinking wet sand. Others are full of half-dissolved gunk that sits at the bottom of your cup like sludge. The flavor is artificial, flat, and leaves a chemical aftertaste that no amount of sugar or syrup can mask. It's like they Googled โhow to make bobaโ and stopped at the first TikTok they found.
Boba is a cultural staple with real craftsmanship behind it. This place treats it like some Instagram prop โ throw some pastel colors on the wall, and hope no one notices the drinks taste like glue. Spoiler: we notice. And itโs insulting.
In addition, while I was checking out the donuts (they just look like any other mochi donut you can find anywhere), I heard a white man say racial slurs in the back (N-word). My heart felt saddened because 1. this place goes on to gentrify Boba and take culture to profit off of. 2. goes onto use offensive and deogratory slurs. No respect to others, just awful and cruel behavior. This says a lot about the atmosphere here.
If you actually love and respect boba, do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. Mochiatsu Feasterville is not it โ and they should be embarrassed.
Edit: Hello! I would like to respond to your reply. I am unaware and confused about your comment, so I took a look at the low comments to gain a deeper insight. I saw a trend in similar reviews like mine from over A YEAR AGO!!! If you are getting reviews about lack of authenticity then take it as critical advice rather than an offense because I am just sharing my honest opinion. It feels unprofessional to respond to reviews like this! Take ownership rather than be petty! Anyways, thanks! (Also, if you think I am a fake account... take a look at my recent reviews I have been going around recently to review boba shops! no need for the...
ย ย ย Read moreI usually do not post reviews, but my experience here was definitely remarkable. I suggest you read in its entirety.
The corn dog I ordered was lackluster, with cheese not being filled all the way to the top and โhot cheeto dustโ not being wrapped wholly around. My party did comment on the donuts being good, but I canโt personally comment on that.
However, this was way more expensive than Iโd expect. I donโt go out of my way to avoid ordering food because of prices, but one corn dog was around $6-7 โ with the owners excuse being that they are more expensive at the shore. 1: No theyโre not. 2: Theyโre even cheaper in Center City Philadephia, where everything is more expensive.
The excuse of being costly to the shore is practically irrelevant considering this store is located in a suburban community with little to no east Asian people, deceiving others to believe this is fair pricing.
The menu prices were incorrect, also with an excuse of not wanting to print one single piece of the correct copy because he had ordered menu books. I donโt believe that he couldnโt print one piece of paper, and it seemed deceitful.
Even so, the customer service was OK. Owner literally chased me down OUTSIDE OF THE STORE in an attempt to try to give me cash when I stated I didnโt want my money back. Cashiers were very obviously staring. Needless to say, I will not be returning for the food or the in-your/face customer service. Aesthetics of the place were nice, not to make up for the...
ย ย ย Read moreI canโt believe how many boba places we have visited so far and what Iโve noticed, thereโs about 3 that are in the same street ๐ณ
As I was using yelp to find more boba (yes, we are bobaholics but support local small businesses, too) this franchise, which I didnโt know about, made extra special.
The owners made this a family friendly place and really show they care a lot!
It was well decorated, placed couches for families with children.
They greet each customers that comes in and I was surprised. Very much surprised.
So weโve tried a lot of what theyโve got to offer
The mochidonuts were delicious, not too sweet, weโve tried the ube and Oreo
Weโve also tried the croffle, ube flavor.
Weโve also tried their original Korean hot dog. Now that one was my sonโs favorite as he gobbled this! He said it was so cheesey!
We had their boba, brown sugar boba and milk tea boba. They were the right consistency. Iโve asked for less sugar in them
Overall experience is amazing for this mom and popโs.
Will be taking my girls here when they visit
Thereโs more mochidonuts to try so that would be something Iโll be venturing out to and keep coming back for more...
