Had the Jamesport dry stout and was very pleasantly surprised at the rich flavor with the coffee / chocolate notes that were present, and happy that it wasn't an overly dry flavor. The food was meh which surprised me after tasting the beer but here we go. I had the black bean burger that is supposed to come with a spicy slaw which I got on the side (thank God because it was very bitter, overly salty and I wasn't a fan) but it is very nondescript plain no flavor patty that was barely warmed and plopped on a bun. The burger comes with the slaw on top with a wheat bun and homemade chips for 11 which is over price for what you get and my husband got the fish n chips which was equally disappointing for the amount of food you get for the price . The lunch comes with 2 pieces of anorexic fish and a small handful of fries and a small side of coleslaw, broccoli salad or cottage cheese for $13.25. The food wasn't awful but like so many other restaurants that operate today, it wasn't that good either. The only other issue that I have is, like all restaurants that are currently in business and are dealing with inflation, the prices on our bill didn't reflect the prices on the menu. If you are gonna give a menu with your prices listed, then make them current and correct because, like so MANY other restaurants, they were not correct and i had to ask our waitreas to change our receipt to reflect the menu price. Its uncomfortable to have to ask for .50 or a dollar change, but that is what a price list is supposed to give, prices. It is your job as a restaurant owner to make sure the prices are accurate, not only for customers benefit but you as a business don't want to lose out on revenue when we as customers catch your laziness. Our server was great and adjusted the bill without question, but I shouldn't have to catch...
Read moreMy fiancé liked stopping by this establishment on our trips to West Michigan. Good food, great beer, nice atmosphere. It has been almost two years since our last visit- but when we decided to get married there on the beach we figured, what better place for a small reception dinner than the brewery. I had sent several emails inquiring about room rental. They we never answered. I decided to call and had to leave a message (which never got answered). I called back and got the person that does the bookings- she sounded exasperated and wanted to cut our conversation short- she asked for my number, said she would call back- I had to stop her and give her my name before she quickly hung up (she never called back). I called the next day and spoke to someone else. She said the best time to reach the person who does the bookings is between 9-10am. So I called the next day. She gave me a little info and said she would just email the info and contract information. I gave it a couple days (as I never received ANY info via email), and called back (between 9-10am), I was told by someone else that she was doing a job interview - but if it was me on the phone - she apologizes, she got busy and forgot to send the email- she would do it later....never got it....and that is where I just gave up (bummed). If I lived closer to the area, and could visit and maybe talk to someone face to face it might be better. However, the vibe I was getting was that we would show up on this important day and they wouldn’t even have an inclination that we were coming that day. Too big of risk- we booked elsewhere. Place is great for stopping in for lunch or a drink- just be cautious if you are...
Read moreYesterday my wife and I attempted to eat at the Jamesport Restaurant in Luddington, Michigan. Billed to be one of the best restaurants in Luddington, it was in fact one of the worst. Not because of the food, since we were never served - no drinks, no food, not even a glass of water. We were seated in the center of a room with only 10 or 12 tables, so it would be hard not to notice us. Plus both my wife and I made eye contact with the waitress who promptly turned her back and walked away. Since several other patrons were seated after us and then were served drinks and placed their order without either my wife or I being greeted or acknowledged, we both stood up to leave immediately. On our way out we spoke to both Riley, our waitress and Jordana, the hostess to let them know we would be writing this review. Riley informed us that she was just discussing what to “do with us” when we approached them. They no longer needed to concern themselves with that as we left. Now you might be thinking that perhaps something about our attire, personal hygiene or behavior was undesirable but the reality is the only difference between us and everyone else in the restaurant is the color of our skin. Whatever the reason for the lack of service and cavalier attitude, we could have been raving fans posting glowing reviews on our business website, but instead are posting warnings for others not to waste their time. We walked a few blocks away and ate at the Old Hamlin and had fantastic food and service from Linda,...
