This is the best breakfast that i've had in a very long time. This may be all you need to know, if not, read on.
The restaurant is beautifly modern, you can tell that is was purposely designed to the 'N'th degree. It reminds me of a SoHo location. You walk into a large combination dining and store space where it appears that you can actually purchase things from the shelves - Maybe not, i didn't ask, as I was only there for breakfast. I'm not sure how old the building is that it sits in, but the ceilings are very tall, but it's still perplexing as to why the designer decided to put a false ceiling with a false I-beam. They even went as far to install the wooden cross braces for the 2x8 floor joists. This is all to create the desired aesthetic of a loft space. I'll say it again, this place is beautiful. the tables were certainly large, way larger than what i'm used to in a comparable NYC restaurant, if you've ever been in NYC, you'll understand.
So you are not coming here for the ambiance and decor, or maybe you are? Lets talk about the food: The food was awesome! I had the Duke's Sausage Skillet which was eggs (cooked how you want them), over a bed of perfectly seasoned and cooked potatoes, with chunks of tomato, decide onions and garlic, topped with chicken sausage. I swear, i haven't tasted anything so well put together, and I've tasted a lot of things in my life. My boyfriend had the Eggs benedict and that was also smashingly good, some of the best benedict sauce in a very long time, not to heavy on the lemon, and just a touch of cayenne pepper (?). Lets just suffice to say that whomever the executive chef is, they have an awesome menu, with great tasting food. If I've ever back in Lynchburg, this is where I'm...
Read moreWe were excited to eat here since it was a new place to all of us [Group of 4 friends}. The atmosphere was great and the food was pretty good but the service we received was far from decent. We told the waitress we were waiting for our 4th guest to arrive but we had to keep repeating ourselves each time she came to our table. We all asked for waters and soda and only received our sodas and no water. We finally got our waters after waiting a while for the waitress to come take our food orders when our final guest arrived. My friend and I both ordered sandwiches with fries, but were given chips with our orders. Luckily the waitress caught that we had been charged for fries on our bills and took those charges off. She apologized and we could have said something when we received our food, but we were in a hurry to get to another event and we had already waited almost 40 minutes for our food. Everyone got sandwiches and the one person got the meatloaf. I don't understand how it took so long and they still didn't get everyone's orders right. The waitress never once came over while we were eating to see if we needed anything or if we were satisfied with our orders. There was another waitress who kept checking our water refills which was nice. Bottled domestic beers were overpriced for a so called "diner", but dinner prices were not too bad. I will probably come back, hopefully with a different server, maybe our waitress was having a bad day, who knows. This first impression, however, was...
Read moreI've never posted a review on Google before but I had to because of my bad experience at My Dog Dukes.
My girlfriend and I were sat at 1:15. There was a short guy with black hair cleaning tables around us, but he did not say anything to us. He left and came back to scan the area, then he went back to the kitchen and talked to his co-workers. He did this a couple times. After 10 minutes I looked around at servers to see if I could get there attention and no one came. Eventually I asked a girl if I could see our server and she said he was getting our drinks. The same guy from before came up to our table and said "Anything else you guys want besides water?" Besides having no apology, he didn't even say hello or introduce himself. I told him what we wanted to drink and he was gone before I was able to tell him what we wanted to eat. Overall really awkward service experience and the food took very long because he took so long to get to us. The food and drinks were amazing but we didn't eat until 1:45. The entire experience at the restaurant was ruined because of how awkward the server was. It was also frustrating to see that after I asked for the check, he was still running to multiple different tables and back and forth to the kitchen and cleaning tables next to us, before he...
