Hechalou just opened in Lynnwood, and of course I had to check it out! The shop has a clean, cozy vibe and friendly service, which made a great first impression. I ordered their classic milk tea with jelly, and the jelly was definitely the highlight — soft, bouncy, and perfectly chewy with just the right sweetness. It really added a nice texture and made the drink fun to sip on.
The milk tea itself was decent, smooth and not too sweet, but it tasted pretty standard compared to other popular milk tea spots. Nothing bad at all, just not super distinctive. Ordered their signature Osamanthus Black Tea with added yinyang jelly. 8.9/10 The tea is excellent, blend of 3 different black teas, notably 鹤顶红茶 (Red-Headed Crane tea in Chinese) from Fujian. The name is a portmanteau after the kind of tea and Yellow Crane Pagoda in Wuhan (黄鹤楼). They specialize in all kinds of jellies, from Osmanthus to Herb/Grass to Black Sesame and Almond. The latter two being black and white, so yinyang.
They just opened so the staff were busy calling by name while I was in the bathroom lol, but that have a...
