Came here for the first time;
I called to ask if they have steamed egg & rice paper, she replied “what did you say to me” I repeated what I said and she responded “this isn’t a Vietnamese restaurant, it’s a Korean restaurant, we don’t have rice paper.” I apologized right away because I didn’t want to be offensive, but other KBB places I’ve been to has rice paper so I was genuinely confused. Even when she worded it the way she did I didn’t find it offensive because I know there’s a language barrier. We came here for all you can eat KBB. The food was delicious! However, the service wasn’t all that good.. the lady who served us seated us in the back corner of the restaurant which at the time didn’t matter but also was an inconvenience. For some reason it took her some time to get back to us and there was no other way to get her attention unless you had to get up to go to the front of the restaurant. This place was not busy at all. Other than us, there was an another table of guests and the other table our server was at with whom I believe was her family/friends or maybe people who work there too. It wasn’t busy but it took her a while to get to us. When she seated us she asked if we needed a high chair and we kindly said no thank you because my friends baby is only 5 months old and can’t sit up on his own lol but eventually we decided to try the high chair and we had a blanket with us so it should fill up the gap in the high chair.. we kindly asked to have the high chair and our server said “I thought you said you didn’t want it” and I replied “we didn’t but we would like to see if the baby likes it” and as I was still talking she walked away….. I’m not sure why she kept talking back to me.. she was rude and felt bothered by us. Once we were done eating I paid for the meal and went in the car, I forgot to get a to go box and came back inside to ask for one. One of her coworkers walked by and our server who was grabbing our to go box said something in her language and they both looked at me.. I was not comfortable with the way the service was. If you don’t like your job then don’t work here. Had an attitude...
Read moreComing from Southern California, there seems to be a lack of good AYCE KBBQ restaurants when I'm feeling like gorging myself with a copious amount of meats and banchans. So glad I found New Gangnam a few minutes from my home.
My boyfriend and I went for the B option at $36/person which came with a ton of choices. With how expensive everything is getting, we thought the price was solid. You can also get relatively cheap alcohol (a tower of Space Dust for $25! Def a bang for your buck) to accompany your meal. We tried the brisket, spicy angus brisket, spicy rib finger meat, sirloin, scallops, and shrimp. We would've eaten more, but food coma was getting to us, since we doubled up on some meats. There were plenty of banchans, and the servers were quick to offer refills of rice, banchans, and grill changes. I wanted to write a review after seeing tons of negative reviews about the service, but I didn't have the same experience at all. Service was incredibly quick and attentive. Grills were changed after every round, dirty dishes were removed immediately, and meat orders were promptly delivered. I find that this quick and no BS kind of service is typical of Korean establishments, and I know what to expect; after all, they do have a business to run and tons of people to serve.
I would definitely come back and bring my friends too! I was actually planning on doing that a few weeks ago, but New Gangnam was closed on Wednesdays! That is no longer the case according to a sign at the front. I would also love to come back to try their more traditional Korean dishes, especially the naengmyeon, now that the weather is getting warmer which calls for...
Read moreThere are a couple reasons I wanted to point out during my first visit to the newly managed Sura, now called New Gangnam BBQ III to clarify my review rating.
To preface, I was very excited that New Gangnam BBQ had come up to this Lynnwood location, as my family frequented the location down in Lakewood every so often.
To name my reasons, first off, my family had tried to order the neck of pork (marinated), as it was our go to when we visited down in Lakewood. We were repeatedly told by the server that they do not serve that item. We pointed out in the menu where the item was located, as the server didn't seem to believe us, but after she had reviewed the menu, we were again told that they do not offer that selection.
In addition, we had to flag down the server for our basic needs, like water, meat, and side dish refills. Rather than being checked on at our table, it seemed our end of the restaurant spectrum was seemingly neglected. For instance, we ended up asking three different servers on three separate occasions for water refills, over a span of about half an hour, but never got our water.
Of the meat options we tried on their new AYCE menu, the choices were quite tasty, but it doesn't seem like the changes that the new management took into effect were being implemented regarding the quality of service and meats that we were accustomed to at the other location.
All in all, the meat and variety of choices were quite delicious, however, it will be some time for me to revisit back to this location, as the lack of service was a detriment, especially given that they charged us 18% as a service charge because our...
