Thank you to the young lady on June 29th with a heart of gold that was a true humanitarian and stuck her neck out for us to step in moments as they were closing the door at 1800(6PM). It was a only a two day Birthday visit, main purpose was to go horseback riding and have ice cream at the Grand Hotel. The horses were booked, ended up bike riding and caught in the rain. We ran into the ice cream parlor and didn't realize they closed so early. She spoke to manager and they decided they would serve us. I had Mackinaw island fudge ice cream ,of course ,and we enjoyed it while walking on the famous beautiful porch of the hotel watching the horses trot by. Thank you so much for your integrity. Read moreWhat a delightful little charming place! I absolutely loved the decor and feel of Sadie's Ice Cream Parlor. It reminded me of an ice cream shop you would see in the 50's. In my experience, the service was fast and the staff was friendly. I went about mid-day in July and there were a few customers, but it was not packed. The seating is mostly indoors. There are a few benches outdoors where you could sit if you prefer, but most of the seating is indoors.

But standing outside was a young black girl, who I believe may have been an employee of the Grand Hotel, standing in the heat for long periods of time. It was really hot outside at this time that it seemed somewhat inhumane to have her there for so long. Her lips were so white and chapped that I was worried she would pass out.
