El Zarape — Restaurant in Mackinaw Township

Since they opened this year we have gone there several times.. today however i took my grandson and we ordered the quesobirra tacos normally we love them. Today they were so salty we could not eat them. My g/s forced down 2 of the 3 he ended up getting sick. I ask for for a refund on my order.. my order came to almost 23 dollars, ok and i tipped 5 dollars.. so 28 total on that was a soda for 3.49.. when i ask for the refund the man just reached in the til hsnded me 15. Dollars when i went to question him about it he said well u drank the soda.. yes but the math isnt adding up.. 15 from 23 is 8 .. so i paid 8 dollars and tipped 5 for a soda? And this same man knows my husband and I eat there a lot we come in 2 to 4 times a week and spend 50dollars or more each time. I have also taken my son for lunch .. but he chose to be this way on a refund for bad food. I didnt have a problem paying for the soda but why would u treat a regular this way. I was a chef for over 30 years. In his shoes i would have refunded both meals in full and appoligized but his greed today cost him a loyal customer who has spent a lot of money in the short time they have been open this year and would have spent...

My Wife and I eat at this restaurant on a Wednesday night. We ordered 2 tacos each and a Chips & cheese to share. all 5 items had great flavor (loved the "salsa bar" that allowed us to add the extra toppings as we liked). The Chips and cheese was good as well. The staff was all very friendly, helpful, and polite. Loved the immersive Mexican atmosphere. We are locals, and I work just down the road from this here. I will for sure be advertising them. I also have a meat allergy (that I forgot to mention to the staff when I ordered). I ordered the "Veggie" option and did not have a reaction, so I can say that the staff were following the "food safe" handling procedures that night (That is a very rare thing now a days and is a very rare praise...

THE BEST Mexican food I've eaten at any restaurant ever!! I had Ground Beef soft shell Tacos (perfectly sized) and 1/3 of a Shredded Beef Quesadilla (big, full, cheesy!)--DELICIOUS! I tried a little of my partner's Steak Burrito (huge!)--also DELICIOUS! They have a chilled "bar" for toppings & sauces, which were all made fresh in-house. I think that's the key as to why this place is AMAZING: everything is made fresh, in-house, from great recipes ... probably made with the magic of LOVE too!

Atmosphere & stuff like that was minimal--but, you can mostly overlook that bcuzza the extreme quality of the super-yummy food! Ladies' bathroom was clean & maintained well!
