My wife & I just completed our stay at this hotel & I wanted to share our experience. First off, Mackinaw City is a very touristy town, & its close proximity to Mackinac Island, makes it a popular tourist base of operations. With that said, for a small city, there are a lot of hotels/motels/accommodations in the area. The vast majority of them are highly priced, & a large portion of them have various issues from poor customer service to unclean rooms. This hotel is a refreshing change from those other bad accommodations. While the hotel is not new, it is very well cared for & clean! From the rooms to the common areas, this hotel sparkles. You can see employees cleaning everywhere, throughout the entire day The rooms are large, well appointed & clean, but a bit outdated. You most likely won't spend much time in the room, as there is a ton of stuff to do in the area, but their channel selection on the TV is huge, for a hotel, with well over 100 channels. The staff is friendly, polite, & attentive, Customer Satisfaction is their #1 priority. The location of the hotel can't be beat, (for being close to all the attractions). It is an easy 5-10 minute walk to the main strip with all the shopping, restaurants, & attractions, & a 10-15 minute walk to the Sheplers ferry dock, (which takes you to Mackinac Island). It is also located on an impressive selection of walking/biking trails. The hotel is pretty close to the highway, but we experienced no issues with highway noise, or other guest room noise, as the hotel seems well soundproofed.||||There are a few minor complaints to note:||||1. No view of the Mackinac Bridge or the Lake, as the hotel sits a few blocks from the shore, and is only 3 stories tall ||2. Continental Breakfast is pretty unimpressive. It is pretty standard for a hotel of this price/ category. Selection & taste were below average IMO.||3. The mattress we had was pretty soft, and it seemed like it had lived a long life. With that said, it was still ok, and didn't cause any stiffness or back issues for either of us.||||Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Mackinaw City. It provides a lot of positives & is reasonably well priced & a good value for the area. I stay at a lot of hotels for work & personal travel, & I can honestly say this is...
Read moreNice clean, spacious room (1 king). Very friendly desk staff. This would definitely be a 5-star review if not for housekeeping. There was a (used?) bandaid over the peep hole INSIDE the room. Very weird. And gross that housekeeping didn't catch it. Additionally, check out is 11. At 9, I was sound asleep and my husband had went down to get breakfast, so the chain lock was off the door, but the do not disturb sign WAS on the outside of the door. I was suddenly woke up by a loud noise followed by a couple even louder noises. I thought it was my husband in the bathroom and shouted Holy s**t Mike, what did you do?! When I realized he wasn't there, I got up and went to the door and sure enough housekeeping was parked outside the next room. Fortunately my husband had left one of his bags on the sink counter visible right as you walk in. My guess is housekeeping came on in (never heard a knock so if they did it wasn't hard at all), then saw his bag and left. Maybe some of the noise was from the cart they were starting to bring in, or because they let the door slam closed. In any case, I wasn't able to get back to sleep. And since I am someone who requires a lot of sleep, it screwed up my whole day. I reported these things to the manager on our way out. She apologized and gave us $75 in gift cards for that specific location. But who knows if we'll ever get back there. I still recommend this hotel, just hope this isn't typical of the housekeeping staff.
Note: due to COVID there are currently no microwaves or coffeemakers in rooms, but they're available 24/7 next to the front desk. Also, breakfast is being given out brown bag style at front desk. Some options you can choose from are yogurt, packaged muffins or cinnamon rolls,...
Read moreWe found this hotel to be an excellent choice for what we had planned to do during our stay. It's one of the only hotels not on the water, but very convenient to the Mackinaw Crossing shopping district and all restaurants and shops were within walking distance. No need to drive around looking for parking. The free ferry parking lot is right next door with shuttle service to the dock rather than pay $40 to park right near the boat.
Our room (231) was absolutely huge with a king bed, giant easy chair with ottoman, mini fridge, two dressers, and good sized T.V. We could see the Interstate right out our window but didn't hear a thing. Everything was clean and in good condition including the public areas. Not a fancy hotel, but will serve the purpose for a comfortable stay. The pool area was very stark and the hot tub was cool with half the jets not working.
The breakfast area was clean but cramped for the amount of people but the meal provided was of good quality. The only breakfast restaurant within walking distance was a little pricey, the Pancake Chef. Eat here and save some cash!
The parking lot is huge with plenty of lighting and there is a super market right behind the hotel for anything you might need. The desk clerks all were very bright and helpful, as well. We enjoyed our two night stay and would recommend this property to all. Read less Date of...
