Other than the paragraph I'm sure I'll write after this lol.. I'll at least say the food was good, tables were clean and the service was fine for the most part.
But.. I'm not sure if the fountain drink machine wasn't working or what (they definitely have one behind the counter) But we were told they serve Pepsi products and also have bottles of Gatorade. My whole family said they would stick with water, but we were all served bottles of water without any further clarification from the server. Everybody noticed it was unusual, but nobody wanted to make a thing of it so we just accepted them and didn't complain. I have no problem with them serving bottled drinks especially if the fountain machine isn't working (if that's what was happening) but its something that deserves clarification when it's going to cost $30 ($3 each) for your family to have water with their pizza.
Its possible it may have just been a miscommunication. Or maybe they don't realize how it comes across to their customers, but to everyone at my table it actually seemed like a pretty dishonest way to inflate the bill.
I mean frankly, if a server hears a customer say, "ill just have water", they almost certainly know that's code for 'I'm so cheap that i'll just drink city water instead of buying a drink' lol.. so to server that person a $3 water instead is not very cool.
And finally, I don't fault them for this last part too much because its becoming a very common practice.. but, they do charge a "technology fee" on the bill instead of just rolling that cost into their normal prices. Its completely understandable that as a business, you have to pay your fees for card payments. But instead of hiding the cost from your customers its more appropriate to be transparent about it by increasing your prices slightly and remove the fee from the bill. Hidden fees are for buying a car, not pizza =)
Anyway, I believe this is a newer business here, so I wish you guys well. My main advice would be to encourage transparency about costs with your customers. Vacationers are a mixed bag, some wont care about money on vacation (pre summer-break crowd), but others will be on the lookout being taken advantage of and will remember it next time if they feel like they've 'been had' (the July crowd, lots of families), so you'll want to make sure you don't lose those customers because of a silly thing like a...
Read moreCame from Chicago to visit Mackinaw City and Mackinac Island. On Friday, me and my family were hungry, so we decided to try Foxâs Pizzeria. I saw it online and it looked good. I love pizza, and the name âFoxâsâ reminded me of Foxy from Five Nights at Freddyâs, so I was already interested.
We got there and one of the workers sat us quickly. He was super nice and took our order right away. We got wings, jalapeño poppers, some kind of mac and cheese bites, and a large pepperoni and jalapeño pizza.
The wings were good, but one side had sauce and the other side was dry. The flavor was nice, but Iâd recommend adding more sauce to coat all the wings. The poppers were really good. I didnât try the mac and cheese bites.
Now the pizza, oh my god. Best pizza Iâve ever had. The crust was thin. It didnât have too much tomato sauce, which I loved. Iâm from Chicago and I donât like deep dish because of all the tomato. The cheese was perfect. The pepperoni was great. The jalapeños had the best kind of spice. Everything was cooked just right.
We loved it so much we went back Saturday for takeout, since we were leaving Sunday. We had to get it one more time.
The place is simple, has tables and bathrooms. Nothing crazy, just a normal pizza spot. But the...
Read moreWe were really disappointed with our experience, and Iâm placing the blame equally on both DoorDash and Foxâs Pizza.
We were camping nearby and didnât want to unhook everything to go pick up food, so we called Foxâs to ask about delivery. They told us they use DoorDash, so we placed an order through the app. The estimated delivery time kept getting pushed backâfirst 40 minutes, then 45, then 50, and so on. After quite a while, I called Foxâs and they confirmed the order still hadnât been picked up. I then contacted DoorDash support, and after waiting even longer, they finally offered to cancel the order. At that point, 90 minutes had passed.
We ended up unhooking our RV and driving to pick up the food ourselves. No discount or apology was offered, which we could have lived withâexcept the food was cold and the pizza crust was soggy, almost wet. The three of us each ate one slice and ended up throwing the rest away.
This was the first night of our week-long trip to Michiganâs Upper Peninsula, and unfortunately, it put a real damper on the start of what was supposed to be a great vacation.
Still waiting for the refund from DoorDash to hit our credit card so at this point, we have paid twice...
