Visited this place tonight with friends hoping for a better experience than the last time. Sat at a high table in the bar area. Rick was our server. I guess in Rick’s eyes we wasn’t the type of people he wanted to serve because he didn’t serve us. We sat down and was just sitting there for abt 15 minutes and Rick finally came over and said he will be with us in just a moment. He came over took our drink orders and brought them to us and got our appetizers and food orders. After that Rick didn’t come check on us again. But Rick had a table behind us where 4 caucasian women sat, he had a table across from us where a Caucasian couple sat and another table behind them where a Caucasian family sat. Rick was very attentive to those three tables but everytime he came out the kitchen he would walk right past our table and he never stopped to check on us or see did we need anything. He never refilled our water other servers had to. Whenever we needed something there was this short African American guy who wasn’t even a server, he was a food runner or he was busting the tables, he would always help us. By this time our food is brought to the table and we needed drink refills and other things, here comes Rick walking right past us again checking on his other tables but refuse to come check on ours and again he walks right past us and goes into the kitchen. So my friend flags him down and y this time I am upset with the service that we are receiving and I expressed my feeling to Rick and obviously he didn’t care how I felt because he didn’t have 2 words to say. I ask for a manager, a young Caucasian male came out and I explained what was going on and at this point I am disgusted to the point I didn’t even want my food that I never touched. I gave it to the manager and he asked what could he do to fix the problem. There was nothing he could do when we have been treated like we don’t belong in this restaurant. For Rick to just keep walking past us like we were never there. He can’t say anything because in order for him to serve his other customers he had to walk past us. I know I want be returning to Bonefish & Grill ever again. I will only spend my money where it is welcomed and I will be advising other African Americans not to patronize this establishment. If I could have given ZERO stars I would but it...
Read moreI don't leave many bad reviews for restaurants. But I think what happened tonight deserved an honest negative review.
I picked this restaurant bc of its good reviews and past great experiences at other locations. We had a big party of 10 and had to wait a while to be seated. No big deal.
We get seated and i requested the printed gluten free menu. We place our orders. I specifically spoke with our server and let him know that I had a gluten allergy. He assured me he would let the kitchen know. My food came out wrong the 1st time, with gluten containing ingredients clearly visable. I pulled our server aside and let him know and reminded him that I have an allergy (not a preference), he assures me it was a mistake and that my entire meal will be remade. The rest of the table was about 1/2 done with their meals when my remade meal came to the table.
Everything looked fine. I moved the food around some and did not see any gluten ingredients. Out server assured me that one of the managers had personally remade my food and I had nothing to worry about. I had ordered the Brussel spout salmon salad and added grilled shrimp. The salmon and shrimp were litterally cold, as if they had been in the refrigerator. At this point I was hungry and embarrassed, so I was going to push thru and eat the salad. After about 5 or 6 bites I was moving the salad around and low and behold, MORE GLUTEN INGREDIENTS.
The manager did comp my food and my husband's (his burger was ordered medium rare and came out more than well done), but this should never have happened.
Our server was attentive and did a great job, but the kitchen clearly has cross contamination issues and I did not feel like my health or safety were a primary concern at all.
We did leave a nice tip for our sever bc this was clearly not his fault. I don't know if I would try this restaurant again, at least this location, as several members of our party has less than expected quality...
Read moreI find the food at Bonefish generally bland, tasteless, uninspired, and not worth what you pay for it. However, my spouse likes some of the meals there. So, I agree to go from time-to-time. The only exceptions to the bland food are the Bang Bang Shrimp (an easy 10 on a 5 point scale) and the bread. The BBS are possibly the the best appetizer I have ever had! And, they are exactly the same every time. Such consistency is very rare in the restaurant industry and deserves praise.
The service is generally good. However, this recent trip was a disaster. Ricky was our server and everything started out ok. We got our drinks promptly. When he brought out our appetizers we asked for bread. Normally, we get bread before or with our drinks. After a while when we still hadn’t received any bread, we asked again. Ricky informed us it was HIS policy to not provide bread unless the customer asked for it. REALLY? Set aside the fact that we had indeed asked. He said too much bread was being wasted and some people are actually allergic to bread. This has to be the most mind-numbingly illogical retort of the year! What if the customer doesn’t even know you offer complimentary bread service? How about at least offering it? If the customer doesn’t want it or if they are part of the super minority of people who are allergic, they will say “no thank you.” Does Bonefish really allow servers to individually set policies like this? We noticed other tables getting bread without problems.
Bottom line is that Rick’s defensive attitude rather than simply saying “I’m sorry I forgot your bread. I’ll get it now” escalated what could have been a relatively minor situation. We paid nearly $100 for a meal with no alcohol and I enjoyed half an order of BBS and half of a maybe 4X6...
