Oh man, what to say. I walked into this "bar" on a Saturday night in downtown Macon. You wade through the usual eccentric Maconite street patronidge, avoiding a couple of random conversations I do not care to engage in, and enter into a hopping downtown pub....with acrcade games. Not just any arcade games. If you ever enjoyed playing an arcade game in your time, there's one you've played there. Or at least have watched someone else piddle their allowance away on. Everything from pinball machines to Mortal Kombat, Lethal Enforcers (one I personally spent a ton on in my time) to Super Smash Brothers being played by four dudes on a couch like I was back in college. Turn to your right, and there's a freaking bar. What?!!!? That's where it loses the star. Super awesome idea and if it could be executed properly. The place was packed. Slammed even but there were two bartenders. Doing the best that they could. They were handling what they could but it wasn't enough. I standed as close as I could to the bar for literally 22 minutes waiting to get some tokens and a drink (or three), watching three barbacks, or maybe security watching the bartenders suffer. It was terrible. When I finally made it to the bar, I was handled promptly. But getting there was a real drag. I hate it for the guy next to me who was trying to get assistance with a game and was obviously being ignored. I would suggest a better seprwratiin between the two entities. Two seprerate areas, and staff. One for drinks. The other for game support. All in all a good experience that I had to walk out on due to the crowd and poor...
Read moreNote this review has been edited since Reboot has replied. I was here last night and this place of business turned away a group of obvious American Patriots who just happened to right wing and proud of it. The group turned away included people of different ethnic and racial backgrounds, and from what I saw, they were peaceful and minded their own business. I believe all people should be treated fairly, regardless of views, or appearance. Just sharing what I witnessed.
Our country is built on fairness and equal treatment. Denying people service based on political views or assumptions is troubling and problematic. Even if we disagree with someone, America is strongest when we treat people with dignity, equity, and respect. That’s what I value, and I think our Macon community is healthier when businesses do the same.
Just to clarify, Proud Boys are not classified as a terrorist group in the United States, where this incident occurred. I was simply sharing what I personally witnessed—that the group included people of different racial/ethnic backgrounds and behaved peacefully(contrary to what I have been told, and took the obvious opportunity to see for myself). My concern is about fairness in how people are treated, regardless of politics. To be fair I don't think reboot was using racial discrimination and never did think they were. It's just relevant to the over all idea of our current climate to acknowledge what I saw and observed for myself...
Read moreGreat atmosphere! Arcade games are lining the walls with a high score board posted for everyone to try and beat (and get a t-shirt for doing so). For those more physically inclined there is corn hole and really big jenga in the back. While this is a bar there are a couple cool non-alcoholic options for those are enjoy the atmosphere but don't feel the need to drink to have a good time like the Duff energy drinks (citrus flavored). Tokens have pretty much a 1 to 1 equivalence to real world quarters, so if you're really wanting to win a t-shirt I recommend just "buying" your high score. Every time your game says to continue just slap in a new token and your score will be retained, so no matter how bad you are you could still walk away with the high score and a t-shirt depending on how much you are willing to pump into the machines. Worth noting that the bathrooms here are particularly nice and often offer information about other events in the area. For those who prefer to lounge in comfort rather than stand for their games, there are two sofas with gaming systems and tvs set up in front of them. Also, for the pinball wizs out there, many pinball machines of varying styles are set up for you try...
