CDs Pub and Grill — Restaurant in Madison

I came in here to get food on Sunday evening 4/20/25 I had just got off work I am a bartender I also was not drinking or ordering a drink. I just had just been in here my first time on Friday evening and enjoyed the food a lot so I came back. Alissa who was working demanded to see my ID before I could even order food, I was not ordering any drinks. It was aggressive and abrasive and I’ve never treated a customer like this in my 15 years AS A BARTENDER. Since they have a full service kitchen that is open till 2am it’s not permitted to ask for my ID because they would be classified as a restaurant..in the name it says GRILL. We stopped by while on a road trip and were very satisfied. The set up is simple: on one side are several pool tables, then a small bar, and finally an open area with tables for seating (some bar height some normal height). The staff was very welcoming and friendly. As soon as I walked in Mel (waitress) introduced herself and welcomed me in. Once we were seated she was quick to take a drink order while we looked at the menus. We ordered wings and burgers. The cook, Jason I believe, brought the food out with a smile and asked how we were and if we needed anything. Overall the food hit the spot, the beer was good and cold, and we felt very welcomed. CDs is literally the greatest bar I’ve ever been to. Mel and Jason have spoiled me for my expectations of service for anywhere else. They are both welcoming and friendly. Jason is always making sure the food is phenomenal! (I recommend the wings!) Mel is always upbeat, friendly, and hilarious. Weather she’s making the drinks or hosting the karaoke, I KNOW it’s gonna be a good night when I see her there. Cannot recommend this place enough!!! The staff truly makes it what it is.
