UPDATE (JAN 2017): CUSTOMER SERVICE IS ALWAYS EXCEPTIONAL AT THIS LOCATION, as I've stayed or had family members stay multiple times here.
On this particular visit, BIG KUDOS GOES TO MS. BAILEY P. who did did an outstanding job, as always. She's helped me in the past when I stayed there (prior to moving from CO to AL), as well as when my family from Germany came to the US for the 1st time (she really worked with us on rates/accommodations). She was helpful with rates/rewards on this particular visit, as well. I had to stay due to being displaced from my apt that got "flooded", due to washing machine.
Additional KUDOS go to Mgr. Chris who helped with a rewards bonus, as well as KUDOS to all breakfast staff ...Mr. D (sp?)-kitchen Mgr, Michael ...both whom were very nice & accommodating on this & previous visits, as well as Julio (sp?) 1st time to meet him, but he was also helpful my 1st morning there. Also, Ms. Francesca (sp?) -cleaning lady (we spoke frequently each day -though I didn't want my room cleaned until after checking out due to my dog) ...she was just a delight & Ms. Tracy (front desk) helped me with items needed and just being friendly & nice in general & Ms. Christina M. (front desk) who checked me out in a quick & efficient manner, as I had to leave quickly, due to an "urgent matter" that was taking place as I was leaving.
I hope I didn't miss anyone, but staff at this location always go above & beyond!
(OCT 2016) BIG KUDOS goes out to Ms. Bailey who helped me to save $250, as I had originally booked at another hotel nearby. I have family coming from Germany to the US for their 1st EVER visit here. They will stay for 15 days. While the "other" place is also quite nice & really did give me an excellent rate ...I thought I'd see if Best Western Plus in Madison could beat it and beat it they did (thanks so much, Ms. Bailey)! Every $$ counts and I already know this is a great place to stay, as I stayed here back in May. Beds are super comfortable, my room was really clean (cleanest Best Western Plus I'd ever stayed at, as I stayed at several between here and Colorado Springs)! Service was top notch and apparently still is. They're even accommodating by adding another ottoman chair into the room (thanks in advance, Michael, for doing that for us)! So when we visit we have a place to sit down comfortably and not on the edge of the beds. So looking forward to having my family spend time here. Thanks again! I'm sure I'll do another review AFTER they stay, as I can get their perspective...
Read moreI stayed here while on business. The hotel was nice. There is a swimming pool and hot tub (I didn't use either) and a hotel lounge was available. There were other amenities listed, like laundry, but I didn't use them as I was only there for the night.
The room was fine, with a desk and upholstered chair/ottoman available, in addition to the king size bed. The pillows included a long, round cushion type, which was actually nice to tuck underneath my knees; this is the first hotel I've stayed at that had one. The bed itself was very comfortable.
The bathroom was fairly small, with very little space if the door was open. In fact, the door bashed into the shower curtain rod, which was loose. In addition, the fan didn't work, and the timer it was attached to would stop ticking after a few minutes.
The toiletries provided were nice, more like organic "hippy" soap and shampoo rather than the normal, harsh chemicals.
The room included a microwave and minifridge. The TV had issues with some channels, as it seemed to be connected to a satellite. I actually gave up watching it because the shows I wanted to watch kept blanking out.
The A/C worked great, but didn't have a lot of control. If it wasn't running, then it got very muggy in the room, though the temp never really got above 74. If I turned it down to make the humidity go away, then it got pretty darn cold.
I ended up turning the temp down to 72 while I slept, but the humidity was still bad when I woke up. A shirt that I had left out to wear was damp in the waist, and a notepad on the table was actually damp to the touch as well.
The lounge was fine. The menu isn't particularly large, offering the usual salads, burgers, and sandwiches (I recommend the french dip). On the night I was there (Wednesday), they had live music. Room service is available for an 18% surcharge, though you can also order and pickup food.
Breakfast was great. They offered waffles, cold cereal, oatmeal, eggs, bacon & sausage, yogurt, etc. It's all you can eat from 6am-10am, if that's your thing.
Overall, no significant complaints, other than the...
Read moreI would NOT recommend this hotel. The people working there were nice and very helpful. However, beyond that there is nothing very positive. We had an emergency situation and had to stay the night completely unplanned. I picked this hotel because I had stayed at two separate ones with the exact same name that were nice and very new. This hotel, is nothing like the two I stayed at before.
We took the elevator up to the second floor. We then embarked on a twisting maze of hallways and doors. He was very confusing to figure out where our rooms were because the signs never included a range a room numbers that included ours. We just kept going down the hallway, around corners, and through several hallway doors.
We encountered other guests that were as confused as we were about how to find their rooms. One guest was only staying one night bc of the nasty smell and horrible layout of the hotel. She started she had planned to stay a week, but would go elsewhere. Several others stated they would never come back here either.
Not only did the hallway reek of cigarette smoke, but our rooms did as well. I double-checked in the hallway and they were both marked as non smoking rooms.
In the morning, we realized the steps that went almost directly to the lobby we're halfway down the hallway from our rooms. We could have avoided a lot of walking and confusion, if only the people at the desk had explained how to get to the rooms.
This hotel should be rated as 1 or a 2 star hotel on most websites. It was not worth the nearly $100 per room we paid. A price more of $45 to $50 would be in line with the quality of the hotel.
There are several nicer and newer hotels near this one. Do yourself a favor and...
