Wife and I are both in our 60’s and retired. We spent the night at this hotel on Thanksgiving night. We had planned to spend the entire weekend, but after our experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place to my enemies. When we pulled up, we knew there would be rooms because we only counted 3 cars in the parking lot. When I went in hotel, I’d already checked prices on my phone, and not 3rd party. The front desk person was on her phone, and never stood while checking me in. She gave me a price of $93, and I asked her about price on line we’d seen. She said she would let us stay for $88. While checking in she said she forgot to put the discount in, but she’d leave note for day shift to adjust. I even told the lady checking us in that I had AARP, AAA, and educator if she had to give reason for $5 discount. The next morning, I went to front desk to get the mistake corrected, and to extend our stay 2 more nights. She told me the mgr wasn’t in, but he was only one that could approve the discount. I said, if not, we won’t be staying the other two days. She said she would call my room when he got there. Finally she called back to say the mgr said “absolutely not.” I asked to speak with him, and she puts me on hold ten minutes. The mgr, I’m thinking his name was Josh, gets on phone with such a nasty attitude. He goes into a rage, screaming at me. My wife could hear his voice in the hall. He said if you know anything about staying in hotels, you should know we don’t accept more than one discount. You were up here trying to get discount of 3 different organizations. I said the discount cards was not even mentioned. I told the GM I didn’t have to take his screaming. I said I will do a review on your hotel, and it won’t be nice. That put him into another level of hostility. He said, “ so u r blackmailing me.” I said if that’s what u call it, then yes. I said we’re not getting anywhere with your screaming over $5. I said I’ll come to front desk. Before I hung up he told me they didn’t need my business. I left room immediately and went to front desk. The girl working told me he had left for day. I found out thru another employee, he was there. My conclusion of this matter ended with us leaving. The employees act like they fear him. He definetely micro manages his employees. They fear him like abused children. I did get charged the $93, and would never consider ever staying again. What wife and I had planned for a short pleasurable weekend, the mgr almost spoiled it. We left there, and got a very nice hotel for the rest of our trip for $20 less per night than we paid at Hampton. Just wanted to bring this terrible experience for others to know not to stay at the Airport location of Hampton Inn in...
Read moreOur family came here for a soccer tournament (June 2021) with our team. The hotel itself is very appealing on the outside. Not saying the inside was bad, but it seemed like the hotel was a bit older. The design wasn't as modern. The room we stayed in was nice (2 Queen Beds - No Kitchenette) and the decor, TV, Bedding, etc. wasn't dated. The beds were pretty comfy & so were then pillows. I think you get a firm & a soft pillow, which was nice. I did notice the ceiling in the bedroom may need to be looked at & so should the bathroom ceiling.
The landscaping was very nice. Mature Crepe Myrtles throughout the property. Nice green grass. The pool wasn't enormous, but it was just right for the hotel.
Location: very convenient. Right off Madison Blvd. By the Huntsville Airport.
My allergies and those of my kids were out of control. Every time we came back inside we started coughing. Maybe need to invest in a deep clean of the ventilation system.
The toilet seats need to be checked before a guest stays because they are either loose or just cheap. Everytime you sit down to use the restroom the seat moves. The toilet paper holder in our room & my friend's room was broken. The lock on the bathroom door was broken & it actually trapped one of our kids inside for a couple of minutes. I did bring this to the staff's attention & they QUICKLY temporarily fixed the issue (the maintenance man took out the locking/securing mechanism). The toilet paper holder was remounted, but due to the design it'll probably come loose again. However, with those minor things we are not the type of people who DEMAND things be fixed RIGHT AWAY. We are understanding.
The cleaning staff helped me whenever I requested something. The one I would comend for upstanding professionalism & courtesy was TONYA (older woman). She wasn't assigned my room all the time, but she did take care of anything I requested.
I thought I took more pics. of the hotel, but FOR SOME REASON I ONLY have a bathroom shot... ALSO the HOT water is ON POINT, if you...
Read moreI've never had this issue before. Listen. I know you can't edit a reservation made by a third party app. I was here for a wedding, but came a day early. Two of my three nights were covered by the wedding party. I paid for the third.
I called ahead to make sure we could get a room that we wouldn't have to check out (pack up wet things, hold our luggage while running around doing errands for the bride, etc) and check back in. Sure we could leave the luggage behind, but we're talking multiple wedding party outfits in our care...
Anyway, I call in, I'm assured it's fine because there were plenty of rooms.
I arrive. "We can't guarantee that, it's never been our policy". Having done EXACTLY this for other weddings, I did not think I'd need to take down who I spoke to in all the running around.
Wedding party says they'll get it sorted and they do, but my card gets run twice. First time it says approved on the console but their computer says it was cancelled. So we run it again. My bank shows two transactions, theirs shows one. Have to give it a few days to process before I can be certain/get my money back if needed. In the meantime, I'm missing $226 from my account.
THEN! We check out and I get a call 3 hours later saying 'your card is being declined, you need to get me payment now for the other two nights'. I argue those nights were prepaid. To which she said "we charge at checkout, not before". To which i pointed out they took my payment for the first night that night, not when we had to checkout the next day. "It is different for reservations". I said we had a confirmation number, NOT a reservation. 2 - good on my bank for declining that shit. Another $440+. And what did you think was going to happen when you already ran my card twice??
Anyway, wedding party gets it sorted again since we've already left the state.
This was honestly the most stressful part of the weekend and I was helping with TWO ceremonies...
