Horst's Little Bakery Haus Hilltop — Restaurant in Madison

I was told I could get a specific color for the icing of cookies I ordered. When I picked them up, some were some weren't close to the color I wanted. The lady had explained my color would be hard to do so I understand that they weren't the correct color. I don't understand why some were close and some were not. When I asked the manager at the time, she was very defensive and rude. I asked for a discount because this was not what Iwas told I would be getting. The lady told me she could give me a 5% gift card. Other customers were waiting behind me and by this time I'm very frustrated by the way this lady is speaking to me so I walk out to my car. The bakery calls me and it's someone else trying to resolve the issue. She also talks to me like I'm ignorant, she keeps repeating the same thing over and over. I tell her that I understand she but she keeps repeating the same thing over and over. She hangs up on me when I explained I was quite capable of understanding her the first time she said it. I don't know if the family sold the business or what because this is not how they would have treated a long...

My family and I only visit this area during special events and holidays. Horst’s Bakery makes great donuts that we enjoy. Unfortunately, during our last three visits to Madison, Horst’s has been sold out of donuts. This morning, arriving at 0745, all donuts were already sold. Myself and four other customers were told to visit the Little Bakery downtown Madison, while another worker was as asking “has anyone called downtown to know if they have donuts to sell”. Surprised the day before a national Holliday donuts were not available.

We will not be returning to Horst’s in the near future, only to find all the donuts sold out once again. We will be buying our donuts from Lon’s Donuts or the Jay C Store Bakery...

My wife and I visit a place in the same plaza as Horst's, and the first time we came, the first thing that caught our eyes was the awesome donut sign! Unfortunately it was later in the day, so it was closed. But on another visit, we were there earlier and got to experience a Horst's donut. WOW!! No wonder the place is so popular!

Now, when we're here early enough to catch them while they're open, I pop in for a guilty indulgence! The Maple Bacon donut is my fave - I love how they use crumbles instead of just a strip. Though the round donut is so thick, it's still a mess when eating!! 🤪 Solved with a few additional napkins!
