Food was OKAY but not worth the price. Expect higher quality for $5 tacos. I’ve ordered from them on Grubhub twice now, both times food was forgotten. Called Las Asadas this most recent time to ask if we could get the forgotten taco sent back over. Normally I wouldn't care about 1 taco, but like I mentioned, $5 is on the higher end for them so I wanted what I paid for.
The girl I spoke with (Stephanie) saw that the taco was there. Couldn’t get it resent to us, they don’t do delivery. They don’t have coupons or vouchers for future visits, couldn’t get a refund, never offered to get a manager, or a solution to compensate until after the call ended.
She called back a moment later and offered a free taco and another item. Why this wasn't one of the first solutions, I have no idea. Had to come in and get it that night though. The entire reason I ordered delivery was I was lazy and didn’t want to leave the house, so of course I don’t want to go get it then and there (they close in 40 minutes). I asked if a future visit would work for this reason. Had to be within the next couple days because she had to be there. Mentioning her name, a manager’s name, or taking down my information “would be weird.”
I was told “This has never happened before.” Maybe she was new, maybe she had food forgotten on an order while she was on shift, I don't know. But to say that it has never happened before is ridiculous.
Poor way of handling things, there should always be a process for forgotten food. Very sloppy. Probably not ordering from here again, there are 5+ mexican restaurants within...
Read moreI went with family of 6 and noticed the prices has been raised. We sat and waited for about 10 minutes to be served. But when food arrived I noticed immediately that the portions where tremendously smaller compared with with my previous visit. I stood up and asked why portions where so small for the price I paid. And Rose who' claimed to be the owner answered this: "I fired my previous cooks because they served more food on the plate" she also responded this "$80.00 dollars I paid was a rasonable price for my family" then, I responded this " I'll be glad to pay $80.00 or a resonable price for a more decent place" she also said that she paid $6.50 per pound for Arachera meat. Which assumed was expensive for her. Meat on my plate was chewy. I was shocked the way Owner responded to my questions. My mom stood up to go to the rest room and found floor flooded with water. She asked for a paper towel and server offered her toilet paper. Totally bad experience in addition to restaurant condition. Not a place to go back ever. I do not recommend this place not even to a bad friend! Restaurant is located in Desplaines on River Rd....
Read moreIn my opinion- a true Chicago institution.
Maybe I'm biased. My parents first date was to their location on Oakton. They've been married 40 years now. We hardly ever ate out growing up, but if we did on that rarest occasion, we would share a burrito at Las Asadas in Des Plaines. For all these decades we've only ever had one thing there - burrito with steak, onion, cilantro, cheese, accompanied by their green sauce/salsa. I'll never try anything else because there's no way it can get better than that. It's delicious, and a delightful mom n pop / hole-in-a-wall in the absolute best of ways. The burritos are getting a bit skinnier as the years go by, so I hope it doesn't continue that way. I'll come here every time I visit Chicago so long as they're serving up steak and salsa as they do...
